Thanks for creating this super vid. Your detailed steps and recommendations a huge time saver. I’ll be doing my 08 civic pump soon so we will be working together. Play, pause, copy Dave, play, repeat. Excellent tip for using a heat gun to soften up hoses to help pull the old hard originals over that lip. I recently replaced a ps pump on an 01 corolla and was successful getting the hose off with some pretty sore muscles as an extra takeaway !!! When I’m searching how to vids for car repair and your Big Dog50001 comes up I feel like I hit the jackpot !!! Also appreciate your tool reviews. Thanks again - Rob

OMG, I had no idea they changed PS pump from gen 7 to gen 8. It was so easy to replace PS pump on previous generation. Even on my V6's (J35 and J37), it is quick and straightforward. There was so little space to work on it I could feel you cussing on Honda engineers - you could barely find angels to film the process. Great video, as always.

Another great video for the 8th gen! I decided to tackle rebuilding the leaking pump while swapping in a JDM R18 because I new I’d rather address the pump while the engine was out. I like the PS pump location on the J35 (Pilot) much better. Thanks for making these videos!

Starting the engine for a brief time to help fill the system is good advice. The last time I changed our CRV's power steering pump it took quite awhile to bleed e air out this seems like it was much easier.

Good video, But the lighting wasn’t so well . Overall great video ! I have a question , the power steering pump has to be replaced if “ there’s a leak “ , Or only the O’ rings / hoses could be replaced . In my case , Isn’t about a big noise related to it , Is only a small leak on the passenger side ( under hood ) .

If it has never been done before there is a good chance it is ready for replacement at 250k.

What are the symptoms of a bad power steering pump?
@BigDog5000110 ай бұрын
Leaking, noise or weak power assist come to mind. If it is only noise coming from power steering pump area, the inlet (low pressure return) hose O-ring where it is bolted to the pump can leak, causing noise by allowing air to get into pump. Replacing the O-ring can usually fix the noise (tightening bolt more does not help). I typically replace both power steering hose O-rings if I do this (both high and low pressure hose O-rings connected to pump).
