Awesome video!! My high-pressure power steering line was busted and I thought that was the cause of the whining. After replacing the line it was still there, it turns out my low-pressure line didn't even have an o-ring on it. The noise stopped along with the overflowing as soon as I added the o-ring. Great video along with an awsome explanation!!

I might have been concerned when the noise continued after the repair but you solved the problem by resetting the intake O ring. Great tip!

I wondered if that was going to happen on the lower hose fitting because you can clearly see in the video upon Installing the new o-ring that it didn't seat correctly. I'm glad you explained to the viewers what happened.

Great video. I did mine as well after following the video and the noise was still there and progressively became worse. Did a flush and added new fluid, still same thing. I rewatched your video, and you said you had to reseat your o-ring. So I pulled mine out to reseat, and it was broke, so apparently I pinched it going in and broke and so the noise continued. I purchased another o-ring and carefully put it on and in and immediately the noise dissipated. So anyone else please remember you may have to pull it out and reseat it.

GREAT video and fix on my 05 Pilot. Took 30 minutes to swap out the black and orange o-rings which Orielly charge $16 for. Seems steep but the result is worth it. Topped things off with Honda PS Fluid $9 pint. Rag underneath to catch oil, bolts, o-rings was helpful. Helpful to take a short video pre and post fix so I could confirm in my mind was quieter. Air seemed to bleed out of the system almost immediately only turned the wheel once each side. Great fix saved a full PS pump replacement for now. :)

Did you turn it with the cap on or off of the reserve tank
@samhallowsdc2 жыл бұрын
@@ginavenegas491 i believe i turned the wheel with the cap on to prevent splashing fluid out. Air escapes out regardless of the cap. Turns out this was a temporary fix for me. I found a leak in my high pressure hose line that was again letting air into my system and leaking fluid out. Paid mechanic $350 for parts and labor to replace entire new line, no PS is golden. Good luck!

First of all great video. However, for those who have a 2007 Civic like I do, this is much harder as they have positioned the pump in the back of the engine, down below. Since I'm not in great shape, I cant lean long enough to do this, so I have to pay someone to replace something I could do on my own if the pump was in a better spot like in this video.

Nice video. I saw many of them from different channels to get an idea of how to change the o-rings on my 2006 Civic. The only problem is that, your car has the easy approach since the steering pump is all the way on the top, with easy access to the lines, as mine and some others years (do not remember the years now) are kind of upside down, have the lines connected more towards bellow of the motor bay of the car, with access from under the car, or taking out the "back plate" in the motor bay to be able to access it from the top. But your video will still helping many people, that because of it, will not fall for some "mechanics" lies that the car needs change the Lines, if not even the Power Steering

Excellent explanation on the two o-rings (red and black). I believe 4-cylinder 2.3L engine size ONLY needs the black o-ring. Dan, my pump only makes the whining noise after 6 or more hours of parking. When I start the car up, it whines in low noise for 10 secs and stopped, and things are smooth after that. These o-ring are actually cheap from the dealers, if they carry them in stocks. eBay are overpriced on these parts, FYI.

I have a 2004 honda Element that makes a rattling noise when the engine is warmed up and idling in Drive. The noise is different from the noise in this video but if I turn the steering wheel and then let the steering wheel go, the noise goes away for about 10 - 30 seconds. Is it possible this exhibits itself after fluid heats up? I thought I was hearing transmission noise, but now realizing it seems to change as I turn the wheel and gets more noticeable after car (Element) been running a while.
@MattyRuss242 Жыл бұрын
It usually makes less noise as the oil heats up. Mine makes noise for 5 mins after startup then quiet/normal as long as it's running. See if your PS reservoir is foamy, that indicates air.
