I was looking at getting a Honda Civic Type R as my first reasonably fast car, and a car that I intend to keep long term and have a tinker with. This video has sealed the deal for me, I need one! Should be able to get the car next year then start saving for this turbo conversion. Sounds amazing!

How many people slagging off the FN2 without driving one?? Mostly everyone who seems to have a problem with them. Just bought mine Saturday and I already think it wipes the floor with the mk2 focus ST I had. Much better drive, much better comfort, and it’s a k20 engine. Too many people whine about the rear suspension. It ent that bad. Too many Chinese whispers. Love my FN2!! Wouldn’t change it for the world unless u offered me a brand new 2018 model 👍

v for vendetta totally agree mate, the top gear review kind of put me off and made me think twice about the EP3 but I couldn’t justify paying the same money for an older car without most of the upgrades the FN2 had to offer. The dash is one of my favourite things about the car. The sound of the Vtec rocks! Personally I think it sounds so much nicer than most cars out there with just its stock exhaust

You get this with any car tho dude, i want to go to an FN2 after my Z4, you'll find most people slagging cars off online either don't drive or are trying to justify their own purchases. If you're *genuinly* happy with your car, why spend time slagging off its competition?

To be fair, I’ve driven eg, ek (which I own), ep3, and fn2, and it does handle the worst I’ll be brutally honest. The best handling is between eg and ek. The engine is obviously good, but put that in an older chassis and it’s game over really

A turbo has most of it's power up top, so could be bouncing off the limiter due to wheel spin, vtec is lowered to around 3.5k and is smoothed out so no real kick just allows full cam profile lower down, boost by gear is the key, so low boost in lower gears as it isn't really needed down there and gradually raise it through the gears, this is mainly what is used with fwd motors running bid power/torque.

My rotrex supersport kit is making 340whp but I'm split whether to go forged and c38 or replace it all for a turbo kit. Need to get on the blower to tdi to talk numbers. Really impressive stuff

@ctrsam i was in the same situation ! Running 370hp & was booked in to get forged& as soon as i had a ride out in tims car that was it !! Rotrex off turbo on & it is a totally different animal :) lime i said earlier it hits 340@ 5500 revs & keeps the power & keeps climbing to limiter which is set at 8500 !!

A sweet build :) I´m running a N/A k20a2 with 235 hp on engine, around 210 on wheels. Did you use stock internals?

Rotrex made peak power at 8600 !! This makes 340 @ 5500 & keeps going up till 8500 revs& eats the rotrex for dinner !! Thats why i changed to turbo !! Peak numbers mean nothing !! This turbo has over 100 bhp more than the rotrex @ 5500 revs !! Rotrex @ 5500 revs 230 turbo @ 5500 revs 340 you do the math ;) turbo wins hands down !!

I've been in a supecharged civic type r and that felt really smooth i.e. like a normal civic type r but faster and with more guts, I've seen videos and been in turbo'd civics, and they all seem to go spastic once they get above 5,500. I understand that it's mostly because of the V-TEC kicking in, but I don't like to hear my engine bashing itself against the limiter, and who wants to drive the CTR below 5,500?

I like the look of this low-pressure turbo kit, everything except the exhaust. Sounds too metallic for my taste, I would prefer a deep, burbling roar to my exhausts.

Good point in was he was looking for. Alot of midrange power to top end. but the rotrex should have made equal or even more..Does anybody know what Company rotrex superchager was he using?

You would have to speak to tdi north i can't speak for them sorry but all you need is a exhaust & flash pro !! But if you haven't got them bbk clutch & diff is advisable unless you have big balls & also like changing clutches quick !!!

I think he means its better fuel economy in comparison to the Rotrex Supercharger. i.e Low Compression TDI Turbo -> Rotrex Supercharger

i would go turbo if you ever want more out of you car you would just need to enhance the turbo. there are more choices in turbos than superchargers when it comes to power

The cars rev limiter has and is set correctly for this setup. It's not need to rev to 9500rpm unlike some bellend tuners do. :-O

Turbo'd civics seem very spasmodic in their power delivery once they get to 5,500 rpm they zoom up and bang against the limiter really hard. Why doesn't someone design a turbo that doesn't do that?

All that power going through the front wheels??? It will be a pig in the wet. Also the money spent on the car you could argue that its just cheaper to buy a car with that power in the first place. Though saying that I would imagine if you could stop the front wheels bouncing for grip, a few people would get shocked at the lights :-)

I just feel sorry for the engine to hit it to the rev limiter alsmot every time :/ Not something i would do to my car - i am not the expert but just saying ;) Probably lower boost will make it easier to keep it from the rew limiter :)
