Thanks for the info bro! My Type R is my first performance car and I love it so much! Every time I stop in traffic and it squeaks I always felt weird but I had no idea it was because they are a special type of brake pads!

I am used to this however, most extremely high end sports cars have this same "issue." When I upgraded my pads and rotors on my STI it got very loud. As for our type Rs I expect the same glad its not as loud as my STI was when stopping.

I’ve noticed that brake ‘grab’ early in the morning with my Civic sport hatch! I’m glad they don’t squeal though. Was that a gti that passed you on the highway? Great videos by the way, keep them coming!

I was wondering why my brakes were squealing. My neighbor said the same thing you said. It was becoming annoying why it was making so much noise. I thought there was something wrong with the brakes. Good to know that is normal with high performance brakes. I love the Honda Civic Type R.

Honestly the brake dust isn't too bad. My dad's Volvo s80 collects brake dust like crazy.. literally coating the wheels in gray dust every day of driving. He uses oem pads.

Ummm... I brought my car to the dealer when it STARTED doing that, and they found rocks that got in between the disks. Not because of the pads. After they took the rocks out it stopped squealing. They didn’t charge me for this btw, but it seems like it’s becoming a regular thing.... it’s concerning now
@FlyinGato4 жыл бұрын
yea the brake squeal can also be caused by rocks, but the brake pads are also very squealy

@@FlyinGato I live in north NJ where the roads are not in the best condition so I always get rocks between the discs and always have to take the rims off of the car to solve the problem. Has anyone come up with some ideas on how to prevent this? Some people recommend Girodiscs. Any suggestions?

Have you encountered the rear pads doing a clunk when going backwards or forward and hitting the brake. As the pad is moving a small amount and hitting the wings of the pad? My type r started doing it after replacing the pads

@v60polestar887 жыл бұрын
Yes you should complain to Honda about brake squeal. They should not squeal. My Volvo V60 Polestar has 6 piston brembo and they don't squeal at all. As far as brake noise is concerned then yes high performance brakes are louder. Squealing pads isn't normal and Honda needs to address this. It's only a 4 piston set up so its not that extreme. Now brake dust is a losing battle. I clean my wheels almost daily

I have a regular 2014 Honda Civic...and that just started making that squeeling noise as soon as I slow down. I dont even have to press brakes for it to start making that noise. Is that normal? Is it also related to brake pads? Also, how difficult to change the brake pads? If I can confirm that brake pad is the issue then will I have to take my car to the mechanic ? What anti squeel liquid for high temp ? Permatex?
@FlyinGato7 жыл бұрын
for this type of squeal, only a pad change will fix it. Make sure you lube it up with Permatex - amzn.to/2za2aqR - but like I said, unless you get a less aggressive pad, you're not going to stop the squeals

they may have bigger brakes but it's all in the compound of the pads. I can put VERY quiet pads that won't squeal, or VERY loud squealy pads that won't fade with hard braking. Difficult to get both
