Honda tech here. You don't have to use the 0w-20 oil, especially since you're in Cali. Honda calls for that oil for fuel economy and colder continents. You can use 0w-30, 5w-30 or even 5w-40 for better protection if you load up the motor. PS. another tip. If you want to keep the car long term, pour oil in the filter before screwing it back on.

@@commentmancommentman1658 The thin oil was used, or recommended so they can reach the fuel economy ratings and co2 emissions. The JDM owners manual has 5w-30 as a recommendation with the 0w-20, so there's that. Viscosity ratings are ambient temperature dependent, which means you can run the 0w-20 in desert heat, but the protection that it's giving is another question. PS. In the end, it's still your choice to run whatever oil of your choosing, but keep in mind that you'll also want protection with how you drive the car (from grocery getter, all the way to full blow race cars). I had the experience where I topped it off to the max line on dip stick . Then did a first cold start until idling. Shut off the car and checked the oil level, and the oil reading was low like below the low line. I filled about 5 quarts and I also filled the oil filter first.

Not sure if its a slip of the tongue...the Motul you got is in a 5 LITER capacity which is roughly 5.3 QUARTS. Something for other DIYers to pay attention to when they're buying oil since some makers use quarts and others use liters.

I see you're smart. I have a Civic 1.5t and I use the same oil as you. 100% synthetic is 100% synthetic, and yes, it is not the same as fully synthetic. The price also testifies to this, here in Europe they want 15 euros ($16.5) for one liter, but I think it's worth it.

On my 2.0 10th gen, jacking it of..up only from the driver's side is recommended because of the plug position, that might be why you had a bit extra

Yes in the video I said not to follow exactly what I did and recommended to jack up all four corners of car to drain oil, I was just too lazy so only did front 😂
