Just saw your comment on the Honda Channel and had to check you out. Great job! Love the effort you put into this video! For me it is all about the Type R. I am fortunate enough to be able to own a Type R and driving it, I know this car is something special and it just puts a smile on your face. It is a permanent part of the collection. As we go into the electric future and more cars start to drive themselves, driver's cars like this Type R are only going to become more valuable a sought after. BTW my Type R is our "family" car and it has made a car enthusiast out of my wife and my teenager. Definitely not selling this car. Again, well done!

Getting mine in Sporty Blue next week, Langers. Did a test drive, blew me away mate. Incredible power,handling and steering at the same time surprisingly comfortable. Really is a drivers car, going to be fun.

Great review - the previous Fk2 model was a great car too and probably one of the most underrated and underestimated cars of 2015/16 with performance just as good as Golf R, however a much firmer ride! Reviews are suggesting there's no real performance difference with this latest Fk8 however with comfort mode, different suspension and new technology and much more, it should appeal to a much wider audience and fantastic value for money against its rivals especially awd alternatives!

You forgot one thing that the sport also doesn't have over the Type R, and I couldn't see it in your video either, and that's a big pleasing smile for every mile you travelled. I'm currently driving a 2015 RS5 that's almost twice the price of the Honda when it was new, and I'm changing it in March to you guessed it the FK8 Type R. Don't get me wrong the RS5 is a lovely car and my search for something to equal or better it as a replacement hasn't been easy but believe me or not my search ended outside my local Honda dealer, because I honestly think that Type R is a better and more satisfying car to drive. When it arrives early next year, I'm predicting I'll not only be smiling every drive I'll take in it, but cost wise I'll be smiling all the way to the bank too. If you can't stretch to the Type R, I understand, the Sport maybe the best compromise, but if you can stretch to it the rewards are worth that extra £10,000 so sod the holidays for a year or so and sell your sensible trousers too...

Burn your sensible trousers 😂 I have an fk2 it’s fantastic! Love it (375bhp) paid under 20k that’s an fk8 alternative. It includes the lovely bucket seats 👍

Hm... let me explain, what I tried to say :-) I think I watched most of the longer reviews of the new Type R. As I just had watched the first 5 minutes of your review, I thought, this could be the best of all. It's a great review at all! It turned for me, as you compared the interior and exterior of the Type R and the Civic Sport in view of the fact of its 10.000 GBP price difference. Okay, while looking for a family car, I agree, the Civic Sport brings you all the practical aspects and very much fun, too. It's a civic. From this point of view, no matter, you're right. Nobody really needs a car like the Type R in all day driving. I think, you missed all the technical things hidden in the Type R, things the engineers put in, to make it better than the smaller civics in some disciplines, you will normally not use while bringing your kids to school. Things you can't figure out while driving some straight roads just using the longitudinal dynamics. I think, the Type R is not about other seats and red stripes and more aggressive looks. I think, it's about very precise drivability and about control and feedback and the ability, bringing this amount of power on the tarmac even on very twisty roads on the one side, and not lacking all day drivability and comfort on the other side. 10.000 GBP is much money, I agree. On the other hand, the Type R is more or less this 10.000 GBP cheaper than it's equally equipped rivals vom VW, Ford, Audi. etc., while combining all day comfort and the razors edge the same time, the others don't. This fact upgrades the Civic Sport aswell. You're right, if somebody doesn't need the razors edge, the Civic Sport is a great car, too. :-)

Wow thanks for the feedback yes I get what your saying now if it was money no object...... then yes I'd have the Type R but then if I was spending £33k on a car then there are a lot of secondhand car the you could then pick up which is also great fun, yes your right the Type R is a tech fest and the Honda Engineers have done an amazing job it's probably the best type R to date but the sport is £10k cheaper and just as good fun and would put the old Type Rs to shame. Of course I do like your review. As I wrote in my first comment... I'd like to see the comparison between Civic Sport (Plus) and Type R once again, but with focus on the capabilities in terms of driving sharpness, precision and pure fun. That the Type R will be the faster car... don't talk about. But how much fun and pleasure will be missing? In the apex of turns, in general, all sporty street cars are usually more or less at very similar speeds. But to get there, it is very different fun. How big is this gap? Is it worth saving this money? That's, what I'd like to see and hear... not especially from you, but in generell. :-)

Langers VW That's funny. I from Alabama. The accent got me a bit. Here in the states the Type R is being marked up as low as 5k over sticker price to ovet 25k over sticker price.

Langers VW The msrp over here is a little over $34,000. But lots of dealerships are selling them with no options for closer to $40,000. Some dealerships are going even above that. This is the first civic type r here in the states. I believe the last type r was over 20 years ago with the Acura Integra. I supppse Honda Integra there. I don't believe there has ever been an Accord type r here. Not sure about the NSX.
