Problem with Elantra N is that it only comes with the DCT transmission here in the Philippines whereas there is a variant with a 6-speed manual. Sure, automatic is practical for our city roads and it's 2024 but you're going to get this car to go vroom vroom and not to do lolo driving in the city. They even wanted 35k for an Si, which is 1k more than I paid for my Elantra N. For that reason I chose the Elantra N and I love it. I got past the looks and am very happy with the car. I will have it paid off after two years where I would be financing the Type - R for probably at least another year. Also, the Elantra N is under-tuned. With only a tune I make over 300 whp now. I don't think I am losing any performance. If I am, it is very little. These are two great cars, and a person can't go wrong with either fwd performance option.

I love both cars but I feel that the reviewers need a little more time with the vehicles that they're not familiar with. Yes for the price the CTR does have better interior but they do lack heated/vented seats, i didnt see any AC vents for the CTR in the rear, the EN in this video did and trust me in hotter/humid climate, you want that additional AC. If you go into the N settings for the EN it literally has the gauges that was mentioned about the CTR. The left N button is for ECO, NORMAL, and SPORT, the right N button is for N and N custom. N will have all default settings and maxed out like stiffer suspension and steering so yes it will feel bouncy and you will feel everything. Go to N custom for a softer setting or run the car in ECO/NORMAL and the ride will feel better. The car is a DCT but if you're using it in manual mode it will have a delay unfortunately, nothing like the porsche pdk, but if you use the DCT as its meant to be the shift points/downshifts are on point (if you hold the shifter you can also have it downshift to the lowest available gear) The EN is significantly cheaper say $35K USD vs $46K USD so if you do opt for the larger brakes the N performance shop offers them it'll be better at stopping but for a 2 piston brakes its pretty good and the N team with albert biermann at the time designed it that way. If you want the stock loud burbling/popcorn sounding then the EN has it, the CTR doesn't but if you pay $52K USD for the ITS you get that slight bump in HP and all the noises, is it worth it? thats up to the buyer. Also worth mentioning, not sure about non-US regions but Hyundai has the 10 year/100K mile warranty, you can track the car everyday and they'll still honor your warranty. I've seen some cases where both Honda and Toyota not honoring their customer's warranty and you only get 5 year/60K mile warranty with Honda. I must say though even with the FK8, the FL5 will hold its value way better than the EN so if you don't want the car 1-2-3 years from now you probably could recoup or even trade in for almost the full value. Honda is a bit more reliable and for me personally I like both of them and always like trying new brands, not brand loyal to anything, I just like every car in general. Overall thanks for the review! Also note the NGS button gives the DCT models +10hp for a short duration for added performance as well as the dreaded octane learning (community hates it), car runs at the spec of 15PSI but if all requirements are met and octane learning is performed correctly you are able to gain 16-20PSI on to giving you added performance as well. Just a decent gain for free.
@vjd2227 ай бұрын
It's incredibly difficult in the manual to get it to OL and hold it. I would go through the whole thing, and the car would hit 18-19 one time and then never again until the next time. Meaning like 99% of the time my engine was limited, even with putting premium in. Loved the car and would consider a next gen, but absolutely not if they keep the same OL with it Also Hyundai has refused to warranty people's car off the tracks as well. One of them being one of the moderators for one of the eN groups on FB, who is also a mechanic for Hyundai
@Specialist77 ай бұрын
@@vjd222 ah if you mean the initial OL after refuel then yeah its a bit annoying especially if you're just refueling for the track but for me with the DCT if I were to go straight home and leave it ill get the stock 15PSI, if I go straight to the highway cruise for say 70-80mph for 11 min or so ill frequently get 18-19... then you see other performance cars automatically OL the moment it sees E85 in the fuel.. wish they worked on it with the facelift Ah yeah I guess cases will vary, I've seen them void warranty from someone who had ecu tuned/mods on their car while I've seen a few cases of people money shifting and still getting them honored so I guess ymmv and it'll depend on the dealership because some dont care and some are just an ass about it. how are you liking the FL5? I'm thinking about getting one now that people are seeing them for MSRP but still trying to justify that $46K price tag lol
@vjd2227 ай бұрын
@Specialist7 Yeah, the DCT has a much more reliable time with OL. I was honestly one of the EN guys who dogged on the CTR for the price difference, but I had never driven or been in one. Then I did. I love it so much. It's a step up in every way imaginable, aside from the exhaust. The interior quality is night and day, and the shifts are absolute buttery perfection. The seats are a massive step up in comfort if you're in the US. I live in Virginia half the year and Florida half the year, and the seats made such a big difference for that drive. Plus, I can legitimately fit everything I have in it. Getting my TV in the elantra was quite the task. Now i just open the hatch and slide it in, lol. 10k is obviously a steep increase, but I paid 35k for my '22 EN. When I traded it, it had 45k miles, and the kbb was 21-24. That's an 11-14k loss. Bigger than the price difference of the 2 cars brand new. Plus another year more and I would have been in the mid-high teens. I still see 2017 CTRs with 50k miles going for their original msrp.
@Specialist77 ай бұрын
@@vjd222 yeah I recently got a new job and was checking around the area if they had any at MSRP. I'm still between the FL5 or maybe getting an IS500, I know totally different cars lol but i want that NA V8. Yeah it sucks that for that price and platform they skimped on the exhaust sound and gave it to the ITS. I saw an FL5 a few years ago parked next to me and it looked really solid and refined and liking the 265 stock wheels/tires. Trade in value right now I see at $27K with my mileage so debating which route to take.
@vjd2227 ай бұрын
@Specialist7 the IS500 is probably a lot of fun too. I love the Type R so much that I honestly would still pick it over the Lexus. Idk about those mouse pads to control the infotainment.
