Some info from my experience with 18x9.5 +35. With a 265/35 tire, it may or may not rub at a stock ride height depending on tire choice. Some tires, such as pilot sports, tend to be wider with thicker sidewalls. These will rub on the sidewall over bumps with passengers, or over large bumps without. I currently run this spec with PS AS4 tires and had to roll the front and trim the rear for clearance. I plan to eventually lower the car on swift springs and will be monitoring carefully for any rubbing when I do.

I went with 18s since they are lighter. You can also run 19s if you prefer the look. I know that for 19s fitment 19x9.5 et44 with 265/35 is a safe fitment that is flush and wont rub. I would do a bit more research with 19 fitment if trying to be more aggressive than et43-45. Also i would not run 255/40 on 19s, would only do it on 18s. Also, 18s are cheaper if that is a factor.

Hello, What you think about about 245/45/18 michelin pilot as4? Are higher side wall even good for corners? Thank you.
@autointern73712 жыл бұрын
You will feel the car more sluggish around corners. Bigger sidewalls cause less steering response into corners. Thats why the original type R tire is a 30 of sidewall. The way to counteract this is by having a stiffer sidewall: Ultra high performance tires (AS4) < Max performance tires < Extreme performance tires.

It’s because of the increase in side wall in an all season tire. I got 255/40 but went with extreme performace summer tires (RT660) which have very stiff sidewalls. Thus, handling the same and better than OEM.

Tomorrow I'm getting some TE37 Saga SL's, 18,9.5 +38, if I go 255/40, do you think that will affect my handling or torque steer? This video was super helpful by the way, thanks man!
@autointern73712 жыл бұрын
There is a bit more torque steer, which is given with the lower offset wheel. Its seems to be more pronounced when at very low speed and accelerating hard out of a corner. If you are already carrying speed into the corner, there is no big torque steer at exit. As for handling it will depend on tire. Extreme performance summer tires have stiff sidewalls so turn in may even be better than stock contis (i have RT660 and they have better turn in). I know for max performance the pilot sport 4S are great and you wont have a problem. I don’t even think the stock contis gripped that well so the above-mentioned tires will grip much better.

They weight almost 30 pound each. Tire sidewall makes the ride feel the car is going to break whenever you hit a bump (plus the wheels crack easily since they are cast). Also the sport contact 6 are not the best tires. The offsef is waaayyy to conservative and make the fitment sunken in. So the best first mod is getting lighter better looking wheels with better tires.

@@Chappers.Gaming most people go with 18 since they are cheaper and have more weight reduction benefits (depending on the wheel). You can go 19s as well.
