Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin | SW-Motech Center Stand Install

On today's episode of Dusty's Garage, I fumble my way through installing a SW-Motech Center Stand on my manual Honda Africa Twin CRF1100L base model. The installation is very straight forward but is considerably easier if you have a helping set of hands at your disposal. In my case, I used my wife to help me attach the two springs to the center stand.

I just ordered this same stand for the same bike, and it seems they've changed the design slightly...I don't have the separate lower bracket and screw that the spring attaches to. Instead there's a welded peg that the spring loops directly around, and you're supposed to use a jack to hold the centerstand UP while you install. I think your version is better, because I have been struggling and can't find any way to get the stinking spring on! Whatever tool I try, there's either not enough leverage or it's too long and runs into the stand. There's only one angle to lever it from, too. Very frustrating to be stuck on the last step, and then have to dismantle it after each attempt if I want to ride the bike. I seriously considered trying to zip-tie it in place and ride it to a shop that way, but felt too dangerous. Glad you got yours on!

Honestly, if I didn’t have my wife to help me, I would have been struggling just as much. I had the same sense of defeat on the last step. It sucks when things go so smoothly only to get set back on the last step!

I just installed this. Hint: when connecting the spring. Put the centerstand in the up position, then you dont have to pull the string😂
