I live in Thailand and I bought one a month ago and its a great bike -Ive only been riding for 6 years (a scooter!) so my first proper bike but Ive already been trail riding and surprised myself on it..great for commuting and a bit of fun at the weekend

I was on my toes, but I have short legs. It was comfortable so I bought it. I have only ridden an old ts185 when I was like 12 I think. I'm 37 now. It pulled me up to 47mph quicker than my 4 Banger Jeep. I weigh about 260. Not had it on the highway yet. Just got it home.

I'm looking for something for country lanes, A and B roads, just for pleasure riding when it's good weather. Don't really see myself doing much off-roading or big miles. Great video. I'm looking into possibly trading my 2009 ninja 250r in on one of these. My main concern is I will be riding on paved roads 99.9% of the time so would the tires be a problem? I know I will most likely be sacrificing some comfort too but I love the 100mpg were as my ninja gets about 60mpg.

Great vid. I was thinking about the WR250R but this is 2k cheaper and seems a little easier to deal with for my height. I was worried about the onroad performance but people are saying it gets up to 70 fine so...I think I'm going to go ahead and pull the trigger on this. Might even do a deposit sight unseen, just to make sure I can get it. I'll replace my FZ1...great bike, but heavy, and I can't go offroad on it :p Much more expensive to run and insure, too.

I was looking at small and older offroad / dual sports before i was looking at the f800 gs Mainly because of offroading locations are at least a few hours of highway away.

It's a on-off dual sport bike so it needs to have a taller suspension to be able to travel past bumps,hills and logs you ground clearance is everything to this kind of bike If you're not thinking about going off road then you better be off with street bikes or cruisers it always got very low seat height. Or you might look at something like Yamaha TW200 it got a 29-30 inch seat height and it still a trail/dual sport bike with its charismatic fat tires! I want one too but it not a used one though.

had a KLR650. ahted it. not really usable on anything rougher than a doubletrack. Recently bought a cbr250r and just love it! so awesome on the narrow paved twisties we have here in Victoria Canada. Now I think I will get the crf250 for the humdred km of mountain dirtbike trails we have here can't go over about 20kph anywhere on the moderately gnarly trails so why have more than 250cc? nice. love this engine as it is the same as my street bike cbr250r

Would this bike be too small for someone that is 6'0 tall and 170lbs? I'm looking at dual sport bikes more and more these days and am seriously contemplating on a drz400s but this one would fit the budget better and looks awesome.

It's all about your inseam,you know you may be short but got long legs you should be able to ride it. I don't know i'm noob into this and i'm around 175-178 cm still need one of these seems perfect to me,it got 34.7 inch seat height. But you can look at the Motard version,CRF250M it got slightly lower seat still only on sale in Thailand for now.

So any complaints at all about it? For being close to the cheapest motorcycle available here in the US it seems like a hell of a good bike too good to be true. Fuel injected liquid cooled fuel gauge able to do highway speeds. Was it still pulling fairly well at 70mph?

I'm waiting for the day when Honda sells it as CRF500L with about 50hp and a harder suspension / shocks with more travel... That would be great imho. Anyway I love the 250 and I wish I had one.

So I just got this bike for a christmas present to myself. I'm 5'9" and my feet touch the ground no problem. Mine came stock with some IRC dual sport tires, I put some pirelli m/t90's on it and wow. I would take this over the cbr250r any day. If you want any better performance, looks, and overall bang for the buck your going to need to buy an orange bike. $5,000 out the door and a 2 year unlimited mile warranty what more do you need.

it's pretty good! As it's a 400 you can easily take it on faster roads, I've got to ride it about 30 mins each way to the trails near me. Did try taking my GSA on them but I'd rather crash on a DRZ as it'll be much cheaper to fix ;)

Hi, i think if you are going to do a bit of green laning the 250 is better, its a good starting bike for road and off road

Well sure it feels lightweight considering what bike you jumped off of before you rode it. It is a fair bit more chunky than a klx250. The klx they sell in USA/Canada is carbed. The crf certainly has a big advantage with it's fuel injection. Hopefully will light a fire under Kawi's buttocks to update the klx250 to match the honda.

No, you will have to raise the shocks just a little bit. If you dont know how take it to the local shop and they`ll fix it up for you.

Hi, i only took it to 70mph but not flat out at that speed, for the money its a good bike,but its just a 250 so not super fast, but can do off road and motorway speeds in comfort and cheap to run + fuel gauge,fuel injected liquid cooled + good build, on the street price £3695.00 or so, but its no KTM but its nice on the road

I have the 2012 CBR250 and I know this shares the same engine. How is it at 45-60mph? And how is first gear? On the CBR, first gear is awful, way too short. If this can cruise along at 50-60 no problem, I might switch up from the CBR, I have the stalling issues and need to get rid of the Ceeber. Hopefully they worked out the bugs and this won't stall either.

Got this bike in summer 2012 and love it so far! I've just have one problem with it. I've tipped it over a few times now while riding and no harm came to the bike but the shifting shaft (what ever you call that shaft that the shifting lever is on) broke off on 2 of those dumps. Neither were hard crashes. And both times was able to put my foot out and set the bike down instead of letting it just fall and I wasn't going very fast. 1st time on grass. 2nd on dirt. Anyone else have this problem?
