Honda CT70K0 parts - unboxing parts from a new supplier.

My used parts supply has dried up and I’m having to purchase new parts to finish bikes. I’m always on the hunt for a decent price on parts and ran across an ad for www.socalminitrail.com
His prices on bars and seats seemed reasonable, so I placed an order. In this video, we open the boxes, get a first look and test fit a seat.
I’m happy with my first purchase. Shipping was timely and communication was open during the entire transaction. I’ll buy again.

I live about 15 minutes away from Troy. He’s a great guy and has shared his knowledge with me. I remember him telling me about a year ago he was gonna start up a business. Also FYI if your seat doesn’t latch you have to shave about a 1/2 inch off the rubber stoppers as they are a bit big.

I can't believe the seats don't have a passenger grab strap on them anyway I would not cut the seat bumpers down they might be a softer compound which makes the latched seat firmer once it's down and locked try sitting on it first.( that's what she said)😊

@@FSEVENMAN Honda did not include a grab strap on the CT70 models. They did on the Dax versions. The seat won’t latch at all, without cutting down the bumpers. Works perfect after trimming. 👍🏻

I bought a tail light bracket from them. Chrome quality was subpar. Ill stick with chp.

That’s the best part of having multiple suppliers, you can pick the ones that suit your needs. CHP is the one supplier I never use.

@@grkrrr As I stated in the video, if you’re building show queens and need perfect parts, maybe not the place for you. I’m building riders and if you’ve watched some of my videos, I don’t paint or spend lots of effort cleaning bikes up. My hope is that they’re going to be ridden and get dirty again. These parts will work fine, for the level of bike I build.

@@grkrrr Agreed…..if I was just building one bike and it was only one or two parts. I build 8 to 12 bikes a year and sell each one for around $2000. If it turns out really nice, maybe $2300+. If I have to spend $10 to $30 more for a better quality part and do that on multiple parts per bike, it really cuts into my profit on each. And yes, I know you’re gonna say that if I used better quality parts, I could sell them at a higher price. I really don’t want to do that, I’ve found a niche at around $2000 and it works well for me. I appreciate your thoughts and comments…..and that you watch the videos. Thanks!

Hey Mike! Will that fit a 81 ct70 , I really love your videos man. My ct70 seat has seen better days 😅, a little black duct tape has gotten my by for years. My wife and I really love your content. Could the seat not be latching because you don’t have the gas tank bracket mounted to the frame before the seat latch? Just an idea… I know that would raise the seat up a little bit.

I wish it was that simple of a fix. Unfortunately, the rear of the seat is just too high to latch. I’ll have to cut down the rubber stops.

The problem I have with Chinese parts is the fact that the part requires 2 holes, they put 2 holes it it, why can't they put them where they belong? The seat requires 2 rubber bumpers, why not make them the correct thickness? They don't care because we buy it anyway!

There are suppliers out there that have more accurate parts…..but, they cost a lot more. For guys like me, who aren’t concerned with originality, these parts work great and they don’t break the budget. I’m thankful for cheaper options on parts and can deal with a few flaws.

@MiniBikeMike I'm aware there are quality parts available, but if everyone didn't accept poorly made products and sent the parts back, China would have to step up their game. I'm a retired Process Improvement Engineer. People won't accept inferior products from American companies, why do Americans accept improperly made product from China?
