You've got to give it to the good old CX500, these bikes just refuse to die. Mine's a 1978 with 22000 miles and I love it. Honda really made a great bike back then, just a shame everyone keeps cutting them up to make cafe racers of them. Great to see it come back from the dead.

Hi Paul. If there's one thing I hate it's cafe racers and "scramblers`" Good bikes are ( in my opinion and it's worth no more than the next guy's) chopped to bits to service a fad. When the fad passes, the bits are gone and the bike will be worth nothing , the parts won't be saved and the bike will be lost. Re: the CX. I never liked them and thought them pig-ugly...but now I can't stop riding this thing ...I did 40 miles on it today. I also keep buying bits for it and it now looks really tidy . I'll probs hang on to it . Still can't quite put my finger on why I like it so much but maybe its because it was half a step from the breakers but the quality of Honda allowed it to be saved ...and I have almost bugger all in it. It's like free fun for less than a thousand quid.! Thanks for watching. Best, Rod

Hi Derek. Too many projects ands not enough time I'm afraid. My Mum had to go into a home last year and we've been dealing with that stuff as well as my day-job which was very busy since September. Still much to do but getting some time back now. Thanks for watching , Rod

London despatch riders favourite in the '80s . Rode a couple myself. Very comfortable when you're on them all day .

Yeah. My cousin was a dispatcher back in the day and rode several of these to death. He could change an engine on one in an hour or two. I'll probably keep this old girl for myself and I strangely like it. Thanks for watching

Hey Ed. Hope all's well with you? This little girl has made a great bike for very little spend which is very unusual. I truly think its a 5000 mile bike and am tempted to keep it but as ever..I can't keep them all and I need the space. if it doesn't sell I'll hang on to it and mint in up across a winter -but right now I've tons of other projects I need to get through. Thanks as ever for watching. Rod

Hey Ed. Yeah this one really seems toward out against the odds . Its a super little bike now and I'm tempted to keep it for the summer but I've so many projects and need the space I'll probs sell it on-but if not doesn't make the money I'll maybe hang on to it for a while and restore fully across the winter, Usually I'm clear on these things but I actually do like the bike.... AAAAGH!

@@rodcurrieclassics8102 being that it's such low mileage, plus they're very well made and hence durable makes sense ta keep it, otherwise I'm sure u could get top dollar for it. Always enjoy ur vids, got a wee bit worried about ya when there weren't any vids coming from ya. Look forward to ur next vid.

Thx Ed. Work and family pressures have kept me away from it for a few months. my mum has had to go into a home and we've been trying to sort her home out. It's bloody horrible but has too be done alas. I'm taking the CX for its roadworthiness test in a couple of days so will be able to take it on a proper ride out( I've had a few scoots locally to check gears etc ) with new brakes etc. I also resealed and polished the fork legs - they look great and feel super. You'll see it in a day or two...Best, Rod

How about a video of a Honda 400f? Well guess youd need to own 1.

Bloody 'ell, Currie lad, I had one of them 40 years ago. 🤣 Glad you survived the smoke, was getting a tad worried. Let's face it, there would not be a queue to give CPR.

This is the first CX500 I've had and I like it enough to run it for the summer. I've freed up the front brake and just awaiting a new master cylinder arriving, so I'll get some tyres on it and take it a proper ride this week. Thanks for watching , Rod

that kinda typifies the reception they got at the time Tim. I too think they're a little odd but it rides really nicely without any need to rev beyond maybe 5000...its all at the bottom end so nice relaxed riding. Ok for this oldie....
