Nice to see someone doing it right ie: checking for voltage prior to working on carb issue. A few of our customers have complained of other shops giving them a repair bill for generators after finding out the generator did not generate power and did not notify the customer prior to working on the no start issue. Good job buddy.

Bruce. How many "O" rings are supposed to be on the idle jet of a Honda carburetor? I have not been able to locate a good parts diagram for the idle jet assembly to determine the correct number. There are two grooves. One at the top and one at the bottom of the assembly. I have seen some with only one "O" ring and some with two. Love your channel. Thanks

Thanks Bruce. Yeah my ole eyes are not what they used to be either. I work on small engines as a hobby for myself, family and friends. I'm really impressed by your knowledge and patience.
@1djbecker7 ай бұрын
I've taken apart several genuine Honda carburetors that show no evidence of having been opened. They had only a single idle orifice o-ring, with a second empty groove. Even if they had been serviced, there were no other parts mangled or missing. It seem unlikely that someone would otherwise carefully service the carb but omit installing an o-ring. It appears that the second o-ring is optional, intended for redundancy or retention rather than carburetor functionality.

The RPM is a little high.... should be just around 3600 to get 60Hz, nominal. This is a conventional synchronous gen head and not an inverter. 3700 is as high I'd be willing to go when unloaded. Good stuff with the carb rehab. Though, you were a little too rough on the main jet using the torch tip cleaner. You really don't want to alter the size of the jetting when cleaning it.
@BrucesShop2 жыл бұрын
Yes I know that but some of the little honda gensets can go to 3900
@orlypalomar2 жыл бұрын
@@BrucesShopyou must be referring to nrwer inverter models. Old school portable gens needs to run at a nominal 3600 RPM so the line frequency stays at or near 60Hz. If you runj that gen at 3900 RPM, the frequency would be 65 Hz. That may cause power tools with a motor to spin faster and draw more current.
