If i have any issuewith video it would to not use brown scratch pad. That is very rough. Maybe green but for sure follow up using blue to really polish cylinder. Other wise great video

Hey there, I just watched your entire video and I got all the way to the end and I found that there was a washer that appears to to go in before the c-clip. Can you tell me if there's a possibility that there should have been a washer there? One came with my kit also?

I machined a new piston for inexpensive modern cuffs of the required diameter, I have 81 GL 1100, we can’t find original cuffs.

That's awesome being able to machine a new piston!

How long did it take to rebuild your goldwing.

It has taken over a year so far. I have too many things (other projects and my job) going on so I don't spend much time on it. Thanks for watching!

Can these steps be applied to 2017
@TomAsay643 жыл бұрын
I think it would be very similar but I can't say for sure because I don't have one. There is 35 years difference between these models and a lot may have changed. Download the service manual and check it out.

There is a metal washer that goes between the piston and the circlip.
@TomAsay643 жыл бұрын
Yes, there is supposed to be a metal washer there. It went flying when I took it apart and could not find it! I looked! When the lever is released the piston will return a little further equal to the thickness of the washer. I ordered and received the parts before starting that project so I did not have that non-standard washer available. I assessed the situation and decided that it may not be necessary. I'm sure I will find out.

@@TomAsay64 I completely understand about parts flying when you take things apart. your video was a big help to me, Thanks

@@1bmwrider I did a major clean up and guess what I found? Lol! It was very rusty so I am glad that I used a new one.

all set without fluid or knowing how to bleed or if it worked.... ughhh
@TomAsay64 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I do not have a proper brake bleeding tool. 🙁 Without one it is a long and tedious process. That is why I did not video it.

@@TomAsay64 I found out you put the cylinder up high and level with cap off (turn handlebars and maybe a bit downhill) and just barely tweak the brake handle to get the bubbles coming out. Some say it took them 15 minutes, with some tapping of the fluid line. Others came clear quicker.
