Honda Goldwing | Remove Fuel Pump 🛵

In this video I remove and rebuild the mechanical fuel pump. This also gives me access to the area behind the pump for cleaning purposes.
The fuel hoses were in terrible condition! Very brittle! I do have new fuel hoses and filter ready to install.
The next step will be to drain the fuel tank and check the condition of the fuel petcock. Video to follow.

What were your symptoms , how do you determine if it's not working . flow out should be ? My 81 just started acting up like it's not getting fuel at mid range and higher . Idles finr

The condition was unknown because the bike sat outside, mostly uncovered for over 10 years and the last few years were outside. The first thing I would do is check or replace the fuel filter. 1981 was a long time ago, when was the last time it was checked / replaced? If the problems persist: Pressure test: - Insert a T-fitting and fuel pressure gauge in the fuel outlet hose from the pump. - Pressure will be 2.0 to 2.4 PSI at speeds from cranking to 5000 rpm. Volume test: - Disconnect pump outlet hose and connect to an alternate fuel source. - Connect hose from pump outlet to a measuring cup - 15 oz (450ml) per minute at 3000 rpm. Good luck!
