Looking forward for the good season to reborn my hornet 2004 model after 5 years of sleep. I hope that carbs are still there inside the cover. Very nice video. I could not do the same by my own but at least now I know how a good job should be.

I needed my carbs cleaned and until your video I always thought I won't be able to do it on my own. Thank you for showing me that I can... I just needed to go one step at a time and now I understand my bike a little better. Amazing content.

I never knew that about the fuel tap thanks for posting this! I've got the same issue with mine which until I'd watched this I'd always believed must be the lowest mileage one in the world with just 3800 miles! it's also the same age and colour.

Hi Szymon, Glad the video has been of use to you. Sometimes cleaning one carb at a time is a good approach, if you don't know where things go when putting them back together you can copy from the others. Good luck.

Good video, I need to do this with mine as it is exactly the same on the pilot jets on the 3rd carb. Not sure whether to tackle it myself or to get a shop to do it. I am mechanically minded but not sure how I would get on with this.

Little update. I decided to have a go at them myself, as I knew it only needed the jets cleaning. Stripped and cleaned and out back together last night. Wouldnt start. Went back to it this morning. Started straight away, to her down the road and running beautifully again. Thanks for the video.

anyone here knows the standard size main jets on these? I have a hornet 600 that faul plugs, after about 1 hour of driving, if you rev it it smokes black, does not burn oil, cleaned carbs many times, tried changing seals, jets, float valve so on, but only with the size already in it, its using #114 size jets, and i don't think those are correct. i read somewhere its suppose to be #108 on cyl 1 and 4, and #110 on 2 and 3, but im not sure, and 108 seems to be hard to get

Most things will be okay as long as the jet sizes are the same. The only thing which I can think of is the mixture jets may need readjusting as you won't be able to reply on the original adjustment positions. Good luck, Dave

Hi, I‘ve also got a Hornet PC34. Last week, as I was riding, it started to stutter and died. I somehow tried starting it with the choke, it did but only for a few seconds. I towed it back home and noticed, anytime I crank it, petrol leaks from where the manifold connects to the exhaust. Opened it, cranked and gas splashed out. Cleaned the wet spark plugs, got it started, but keeps on stuttering and dying. Any idea what it could be ?
@davidmustard2583
@davidmustard2583 Жыл бұрын
All I can think of is that the float valves are not shutting off and flooding the engine. To test this see if you can start the engine with the petrol turned off. If it runs ok for a while, try turning the petrol on and see if it causes it to die. Hope this helps. Dave

had the same issue yesterday with my Hornet (probably never had the carbs off as well, 60k km on odometer), you just gotta use force
@jcandy5799
@jcandy5799 10 ай бұрын
The factory service manual says to loosen the clamps at the carb side of the rubber mounts, and that is what I did. Could not get them off. I then re-tightened those clamps and loosened the clamps at the engine side, and the carbs came right off. Parts are getting hard to find here in the States, they only imported them in 04 and 06.@@adamkozolka6981

Its right, you have to use foce but you also can use warmth to make it easier. On my honda hornet cb 600f pc 34 from 1998 i took my hair dryer and blew 1min of warn air on it and surpisingly it went of like nothing. Before that i tried it day after day with force

@thecolonelscustoms8302
@thecolonelscustoms8302 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Taro, Sorry for delayed reply, I have been on holiday. I think that screwdriver is from a set of Stanley screwdrivers which I bought many years ago but any good fitting medium/small flat blade screwdriver should do the job. You may have to grind down an old screwdriver to fit. Good luck. Dave.

Yes thanks I realized that but I have a 2004 hornet but for some reason our mixture screws are not the same I have to use a D bit attachment for my screws. I took it all apart but my question is if it not a dirty carb that’s got me leaking gas what else could make my carb leak

@davidmustard2583
@davidmustard2583 2 жыл бұрын
I would say that your best bet, as a starting point, would be to remove the carbs from the bike and set the butterfly valves so that they all open at the same time.

If you look at the first video, at about 5 minutes in I have the carbs upside down on the bench. On the bottom of carbs you will see the tick over adjuster in the middle, it is the yellow 5 pointed star.
