Here's some helpful hints for replacing the window motor and or regulator that seem to be missing from the video. 1. The main door handle/Arm rest does not have to be taken off completely from the door panel. After you take the three main screws out of the door handle, there are two screws holding the door handle to the door panel on the far left and far right ends. If you try to take the door handle completely off of the door panel, you will tear out these screws. Good news, you can still secure the door handle to the panel with the three main screws. 2. Once the door panel is off you will want to make sure that it is actually the window motor that is not working as opposed to the main window switch, the fuse, or the wiring between the main window switch and the window motor wiring harness. Unplug the old window motor wiring harness, then plug in the new window motor. Turn on your car and push the main window switch/button in order to see if the new window motor will work. If it does, you know that the main window switch works and the wiring in between is good. The window probably wouldn't move at all if the fuse was bad. 3. The video mentions three bolts that hold the window motor in place, but does not really say where they are or how to get to them. The video led me to believe the bolts were on the outside and accessible from the outside....THEY ARE NOT! You will notice that the new window motor has three tapped/threaded holes. They accommodate three bolts that hold the window motor on to the regulator from the INSIDE. In the video the gentleman seems to just push the motor out an then pull it out of the door. He never shows using a socket wrench to take out the three bolts from the INSIDE. 4. If you want to remove the old window motor from the regulator you will have to use a socket wrench and try to blindly find the three bolts found on the inside of the door. The bolts will be facing away from you. The video eludes to the three bolts and then matching up the holes once the new motor is in place. You will have to replace them by matching up the holes in the same blind fashion. This is risky as there is no guarantee that you will get the cogs of the new motor in line with the regulator cogs. If they are not in line, like a zipper, you will surely break or strip the cogs when you operate the window. Plus, it's nice to grease the cogs on both the new window motor and the regulator cogs. 5. Because I could not get the new window motor to just pop out after removing the two external bolts shown in the video (the ones facing you) I decided to just remove the entire regulator and motor assembly. This involved removing most of the main, external bolts that are facing you. I think there are six matching bolts to remove or losen (Two can be loosened and left in place as they are key holed. Leaving them in place will help you guide the regulator assembly back into its proper location) Taking the entire regulator assembly out isn't a bad idea. Although the main window switch was found to be good, as well as the wiring, that does not mean that the regulator is working properly. You will put the new window motor in, only to find that the regulator is bad. Then you get to start all over again. 6. When you remove the six bolts, the entire regulator assembly, including the window, will slide to the bottom of the door. In the video the gentleman shows the regulator and mentions greasing the regulator (The 4.07 mark) At each end of the regulator track, along the bottom of the window, you will see a bolt which goes through the regulator rail and into a white piece of plastic, which clamps on to the window. The bolts have to be loosened, but not entirely removed. This will allow you to slide the regulator rail away from the bolts. Once the bolts are loosened and you have slid the regulator rail away (to the left or right) the entire regulator assembly and motor can be pulled out of the door. This is a little tricky, but it can be removed from the larger hole to the left of the door. What to do with the actual window glass so it is out of the way? You can slide it up, like it's in the up position and tape the window to the door frame. You can push it up from inside the door with one hand, grab it with the other, and hold it in place while taping it to the door frame. 7. Once the regulator assembly is out you will see how the old motor is attached with the three smaller bolts. Remove them, but remember how the motor is aligned in the regulator. Grease up the cogs on both the new motor and the regulator. Grease up the regulator rails too. I used a spray can of lithium grease, which has a straw. I also sprayed lithium grease in the rubber tracks the window fits into on the inside of the door. 8. Once you have the motor attached to the regulator you simply have to slide the whole assembly back into the door and then line up all the holes (Use the two that you loosened but did not remove as a guide using the key holes) Don't tighten the bolts completely down until you have all the bolts in their respective holes. I think the last step involved attaching the window to the bottom rail of the regulator and sliding the rail over the bolts as mentioned in step 6. Tighten up these two bolts, then tighten the remaining bolts. Make sure the actual window glass is in its tracks before testing. If it slides out of its rubber tracks its nearly impossible to lift it up or down. Sorry I can't add pictures. Good luck. If I can do it, anyone can.

Thank you Joe, I had the same thoughts about those missing steps. I also appreciate Cody for starting this repair, but as is commonly done, steps are missed when the repairman already knows the steps, but automatically leaves them out. Thanks Joe for adding more details, it should go faster now for me....Cheers, Don

I appreciate the detailed advice in your comment. I'm having the same window problem and noticed that some key points were acknowledged but not shown or described. Thank you for the detailed information. This will be my first time dealing with this issue and if I had just blindly followed this (for lack of a better term) "half assed" video, I would've been lost and had to go back and do more research mid-project.

I love these videos, very informative as to look for worn parts on a honda suspension. but and there is a big but, because you tightened those 2 bolt with the upper control arm hanging down, now those rubber bushings will prematurely fail, on these honda's, you must reassemble leaving the 2 bolts just snug, and put the tire on and lower the vehicle to its natural height, then you blast those bolts to 40 ft lbs, then that aftermarket control arm will last as long as it was designed to...this is crucial on any honda suspension parts with those pressed in rubber surrounded bushings located on many part of the suspension system, great video and explanation though.

Thanks for the video. I was confounded by the 8mm bolts... Apparently mine had been replaced before as there were no 8mm bolts holding the motor to the regulator. There were 3 frickin philips screws!!!! had to unbolt the window from the regulator and take the whole assembly out. ugh.

You only show two 8mm bolts being removed in order to remove the motor. The window motor I bought has three threaded holes. Your motor appears to have three threaded holes as well. Am I missing something? Also, what year is this car? My car is a 2000 CRV. The window regulator and the motor are separate, correct, not riveted together?

I recently purchased a 2001 crv. One problem is the driver door handle is broken. only a part is left. I also have a 97 odyssey that has 400k and I have no attachment to. upon inspection the door handles look the same. my plan is to remove one of the odyssey door handles and using it on my odyssey.

You get top points for videography and lighting but you skip a lot of important stuff. What is the model number for the window motor? Where and how do you grease the window rails? You totally ignored the dissassembly of the door handle altogether, starting with pushing it forward, disconnecting the door lock harness and THEN popping the retaining pin back before lifting the metal rod out of it's hole.
