+ZLY WEISIOR They are back but now they moved from light, revy, grippy fun to big/heavy, low revving high torque, not as fun cars like the new nsx and type-R. Everything fell apart after Soichrio past. After 2002 when all his bluprints and designs, models where all either finished or discarded, Honda's lost its fun touch and became just reliable practical cars.

I bought my Integra Type R in 1999 and I love driving it more each day. Now, almost 17 years later, I've clock 250,000k's with not a thing done to the motor, except a new clutch and a new distributor. I replaced the original disc pads just on 225,000k's, only because I use the gear shift on corners and hardly ever use the brakes. It's a special car, with its port and polished naturally aspirated engine - a dying piece of craftsmanship. It's all too easy these days to slap a turbo into a new car, but there's no fulfilment in that. Hope to get another year or two out of this great car and then I'll bequeath it to my son. 9 Jan, 2022. Added note. I wanted to add to this comment to let readers know that I have now clocked 310,000 Kms. In all honesty the car is going better than ever, and a new sports muffler had increased performance by at least 10%. The most important thing which I didn't mention however is the mileage - around 33mpg city and 45 mpg highway. None of today's hot hatches can emulate those figures of power versus economy.

the best FWD car ever made !!!!!!!!!!! shame we have a society of idiots who want a lesser performance car due to looks opposed to having a machine that works perfect. the fact only 10k were sold in the uk proves the average person who thinks they like performance cars don't have a fucking clue what makes a performance car good. if you want to pose, pose !!!! but don't pretend your cars looks makes it into a Ferrari, you can put 15 exhaust pipes on a corsa but its still a corsa !!!! the integra can take even more power than it has standard and is still superb. he spoke of the fiat coupe being a bit faster, I would bet any amount of money that the integra would fucking smoke it round a track with bends. ;)

***** ive had an integra dc2, a civic em1 coupe vti and an accord type r !! I don't even need to look at the video although I will since you were nice enough to post it haha !! fiat are garbage, the integra can beat a lot of cars with more power round a track, ive drove a lot of cars through the job I do and I can only say that the Dc2 integra is an absolute machine !!! ive never drove a car that gives me so much pleasure and I have driven over 150 different cars from merc benz slk and Bmw M3's, Evo's etc. they are great but something about the Dc2 is just fucking special. I fell in love with that car !!! its not all about straight line speed to me. I also LOVE the accord type r and ek9 type r civic !!!! 3 best type R's ever made except for the nsx-R.

***** that is because you clearly understand and know what makes a car good. most people don't even know what steering feel is, lol they don't know how to tell if a gear change is good etc. its quite bad, most will look at a car and buy it on the basis of its looks or because someone else told them to. I also hate German cars, people think that the price of a car makes it good !!! compare the Audi R8 to the Nissan Gtr !!! lol the GTR was so good that Audi had to go back and change their original R8 and give it way more power just to keep up with the GTR lol almost double the price too !!!!! if I won the lotto, I wouldn't buy stupid expensive cars, I would have a DC2, an EK9 and an NSX-R. maybe a GTR or a Lotus Exige with a Type R engine too. ;) I don't care about the badge on the car, I just care about how it feels when I drive it and if its a good machine or not. plus.... when does a Honda let you down? lol ive had about 8 and never broken down ever !!! and none of them have been new when I bought them. I love jap cars much more than german !!! I have a saying.... "If its not Jap......Its Crap" !!! haha

Nice review from the days when Honda believed they could build amazing cars, and actually sell them. Unfortunately for car enthusiasts and to lesser extent Honda, they did not quite succeed in the latter. Type-r's are difficult to find these days and are priced very high for their age.

***** I think the problem was, even though there were high performance integras and civics(type r) most of them were the budget family cars (ex, dx, ls) which gave them a bad wrap with car enthusiasts. Especially since everyone ended up ricing out their low end models to bring them to par with the type R.
@miroshi
@miroshi 9 жыл бұрын
That's exactly the opposite In the Europe, there was just the Integra Type R model for sale, so when a honda fan speaks about an Integra, we know he means Type R. Because of this, in our minds, the Integra really is a true sports car ready for a track and nothing less. Simply no other Integra trim had a chance to give it a bad reputation, at least in the EU.
@vkoptchev
@vkoptchev 9 жыл бұрын
***** I don't think a car enthusiast would be swayed by the existence of base models. He knows all of them and chooses based on qualities. There are simply not many enthusiasts with money. The majority of rich people buy expensive cars to show off, and the remaining majority buy economy cars to carry people and stuff around. Honda did well in that small niche judging from the amount of honda-specific tuning literature and parts, but it's just a small market.

100% agree, I loved my DC2 & wish I kept it. My 1999 ITR DC2 had clocked up 165,000 kms (from new) & enjoyed 13 track days during my 5.5 years of driving nirvana. I was utterly addicted to the VTEC scream of the B18C engine, the wonderfully slick gearbox, dynamic handling & complete package of Honda engineering. Even 17 years on & after driving many higher spec cars, the memories of the DC2 remain as some of my best driving experiences ==> I would buy another one anytime!

As a fellow dc2R owner & driver I thought I'd share this with peeple to see if its just mine or can other owners do this with their dc2R? Mine is stock - no mods MY'01. One day as i pulled away from a green light, i accidentally did the following, pushed clutch all the way down, pulled 1st into 2nd gear, at about 4000rpm (no need to hit vtec or redline), let the clutch out about 1/4 of the way, tapped the throttle all the way down (very quickly) before releasing, then let the clutch up to about 1/2 way, pushed the throttle pedal all the way down this time and kept it down. I got an unbelievable rush of power that pushed me so hard into my recaro seats, it felt like they were gonna break. It was just an AMAZING rush of power, i dont know if the engineers intended it to do this but i do know it works & its UNBELIEVABLE!!! Sadly, I've only managed to do it a handful of times (cos it's hard to do) Try this with your dc2, & then tell me if u experience the same! If so, it's time to let the secret out guys!

Funny, four years have passed and I am just about to clock the 300,000Km mark. it's truly scary, but this car (production No. 0101) seems to be going better now than it did when it was new. I have the money to buy a new hot hatch, but I think we will be buried together (I am 71). Why sell a mechanical chronometer watch and replace it with a quartz watch? - the quartz watch may be more accurate, but there is no comparison in the craftsmanship! This is really a special car.

So much emphasis was put on the 100 hp per litter 1.8L engine and more needed to be stressed regarding the handling, while in VTEC.

One car I'd really like but I'd have to switch to front-engined and front-wheel-drive from the glory of driving a mid-engined two seater. The second you can get one for around £2000, I'm definitely having one. Right now, I just can't justify it.

Kyle Paguio I used to hate the bugeyes when I was younger, but since owning a bugeye'd front Integra for a few years and seeing the J-spec front swapped onto so many Integras, I've grown to love the bugeyes. As clean as the J-spec front is, it's a lot less distinctive. I just wish there were a nicer selection of aftermarket lip options for it.

My Lexus was made in 2003 and it has VVT-I electronically controlled. Honda made the stupid version first (as in not computer controlled) and Lexus created one of the first variable cams with intelligence (computer controlled) i like hondas version more simply because it's way more noticeable and feels more intense because of that, even though since my car has v tec with a computer module no matter the rpms from square one upon slamming the pedal i get full power.
