Great video..!!! I am interested in getting an EU7000.... How many hours do you think it would run at 50% load on a tank of gas..?? I looked on Honda's website and read the specifications but was just looking for real world numbers from someone like yourself who has actually used one ...
@keithpetersen8114
@keithpetersen8114 7 жыл бұрын
Hi - glad you enjoyed the video. I can only answer your question by saying that 1/4 load is rated at around 20 hours. This means that it is running at full capacity 25% of the time and the 5 gallon tank (keep in mind this unit is fuel injected rather than carburetored) will provide around 20 hours of run time. Thus, 50% load would vaguely translate into around 10 hours. Whatever the specific time frame, this generator - compared to the competition - has exceptionally long run times coupled with ultra-clean electrical output. I hope this helps.

@keithpetersen8114
@keithpetersen8114 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick - thanks for the complement. It would be a 5000-watt Honda - either a EM5000 or an EM5000i. The latter is an inverter generator which is the preferred series since it is quieter, much more fuel efficient and, most importantly, produces "computer-clean" electricity. Since the EM5000i is only a few hundred $$ less than the EU7000i (which is fuel injected, as well) we no longer stock the EM5000i. The EM5000 is around $2300 - the EU7000i is $4000. You can use the EM5000 but you would have to be careful with anything with electronics as they are susceptible to damage (computers, modems, fridge, heating system, phone system, etc.). I hope this helps!

Hi John -- thanks for your commendation. At idle it is about 2100 rpm. Normal full run speed is around 3500. However, the Eco throttle design will actually allow it to go as high as almost 4500 rpm for a short time. I hope this helps.

Very good presentation. What is the difference between the i & is versions? I presume the i stands for inverter & s for true sign wave?? but what is the difference.
@keithpetersen8114
@keithpetersen8114 2 жыл бұрын
Hi -- Sorry for any confusion -- "i" and the "s" are used to denote the same series of units. So, for example, an EU3000i or an EU3000 or any other variation of that unit should, properly, be designated as an EU3000is. I hope this helps clarify.
@MarkAAshdown
@MarkAAshdown 2 жыл бұрын
@@keithpetersen8114 Hi- the "is" is a different version to the i. I'm guessing the i stands for inverter but the s doesn't stand for sine as probably the inverter will produce the pure sign wave.

@@MarkAAshdown Hi Mark -- Well, at least you galvanized me into enough further action to contact our Honda Service Liaison (the "guru") regarding any potential differences between "i" and "is" generators. He confirmed that any unit marked either "i" or "is" is the exact same series and technology -- it is merely a designation.

Thanks so much! Wonderful compliment! As of now (11-4-20) there are no Honda EU7000i generators available through Honda which is why you are not seeing them in the marketplace. Honda has just opened up the ordering process (i.e., for Dealers) again a few days ago; but, the likelihood is that nothing will hit the marketplace until late December or even January 2021. We have been taking orders for almost two months, now, for this unit. "Get in line" with a local Dealer and you should get your generator in another month or so.

Hello Kieth, I just purchased a EU6500is Generator with 101hrs on it. We have a 50amp fifth wheel with 2 A/C units, a 13.5 & 15.5 btu. Could you tell me which recepticle is best to use & which voltage selection do I choose to give us the best power for our 50 amp fifth wheel? I've been using the 4 prong L1430 recepticle with the voltage selector on the 120v instead of the 120/240v selection. Can I run it in the 120/240 selection without damaging anything in my fifth? Thank you
@keithpetersen8114
@keithpetersen8114 5 жыл бұрын
Hi -- since you are wired in using the 120/240 L1430 receptacle the usual selection would be to take advantage of that by throwing the rocker switch to 120/240. The EU6500 is an inverter generator and thus protects even your sensitive electricity using products. Also, when you select 120/240 the internal wiring on the generator maximizes your electrical output. I hope this answers your questions.

I guess most folks know Honda generators are always on the top of Consumer Reports list for quality. That said, most average folks just can't afford them, so that's where other brands come in. You have to live within your means. Sadly.

Hi -- thanks for your input. Yes, Honda does make the best gasoline generators. The initial price is certainly more than many of their competitors' units; however, when the costs are factored in from the damage that can occur to electrical-using appliances (fridge circuits, heating system circuitry, microwaves, plasma tv's and various electronics) as a result of the low-price Chinese components that are present in the average generator -- Honda becomes a lot more affordable.
