Thanks for the video! I've just installed my camera, and I used a kit to let me mount it in the numberplate light hole and I didn't have to drill any holes for it thankfully, I did have a pain routing the cables through the car though

That's awesome, and you're welcome. Yes there is a replacement number plate light camera option but unfortunately I got the universal camera as a gift from my regular supplier. The number plate light style camera I get from a different supplier and would have had to pay extra for so I just used what I got for free 😅

Power is taken from one of the reverse bulb sockets. You'll have to use a test light to check which of the 2 wires on the socket is live and then run a wire from the rear under the trim towards the front where you connect it to the 2 red wires you'll see at 7:46 (this belongs to 2 auxiliary connectors, one of which plugs into the back of the radio/head unit, and one that plugs into the camera itself).

Hi Peet and thanks for the comment. The radio brand is GPScar which falls under the same family brand as Mekede, Navifly and a few others. The camera is a universal one with a Sony lens. I supply the latest units by pre-order and they're now running Android 13.0 firmware with the reverse camera now offered as standard included in the price (previously it was an optional extra).

You didn't show how to get the power from the reverse light bulb and that's where I'm stuck 😢 great video though

Hey there bro, sorry about that. There's basically 2 wires on the reverse bulb socket. You just need to use a test light (or make up a makeshift one) and put one wire on a nearby nut/screw making contact with the body to act as an earth, and then put the other wire on the reverse socket to test which is the live one.
