I know it's been 10 months but I'm hoping you're still around and can tell me if those splicers you've used are still holding up. Your video is honestly one of the best and easiest but that'll depend if the blue things have held up.
@teejay6224 жыл бұрын
This video is well done and very helpful. My only issue is with the clamp on splicers. Those things should be outlawed. lol They ALWAYS allow moisture to enter, creating corrosion and resistance. And they almost always cut one or more strands of the parent wire I've seen those clips cause the parent wire to break in half because of the corrosion they cause. It's far better to cut the wire and either solder or use a wire twist nut filled with dielectric grease. Not hatin on this video. As I said, it's well done and very informative - even after 3 years. I just cringe when I see those clips being used.

the video was very helpful, but it would be helpful to ( emphasize that the power wire to the backup light is the black/red stripe wire not the red wire as many people may think) You did mention it after watching the video a few times I picked up on it and switched the wires and it worked perfectly.Thanks!

I bought all the recommended parts and installed it successfully. Thanks for the video. However, the quick splices did not work the first time on either the ground or power connections. They made connection on the backup light side but not on the camera power harness side, so I ended up soldering a segment of thicker gauge wire onto the leads of the camera power harness wires. Then the quick splices made a good connection. I don't know if the splices are marginal or the gauge of the camera power wires got smaller or whatever, but I had 0% success using them on the power wires that come with the camera kit.

I never knew about the added circuit fuse. I normally have directly to the battery with a switch so i can switch on and off when I want or piggy back it onto the cigarette lighter, I have mine in a van so it's on all the time so that it works as a rear view mirror and has a nice wide angle that gives me a better view when switching lanes on a motorway.
@missculinary4 жыл бұрын
For a beginner (me) how would you connect direct to battery with a van. I dont think my wires reach all the way up there. Any suggestions ?
@spiderman019804 жыл бұрын
@@missculinary vans I've driven had the battery under the drivers seat so easily accessible, and easy to run the wire under the carpet to the dash. Whe the battery is under the hood it's a little bit difficult to run the wire through, that's when I find it easier to splice into the cigarette lighter. Or you can splice it into the wire that powers the stereo.

One question: Instead of using add a circuit, can't we just add another quick splice onto the reverse light and use that as a power source for the display screen front? so two quick splice and use it power backup camera and display screen?

This is a great video, but it should be known, if you have a sedan with the fusebox mounted flush to the door, you wont be able to close the fuse panel to the add-a-circuit. So either direct wire under a circuit or better, find another place to mound it.

Yes and no, it's going to vary by vehicle. Each wire is color coded depending on where it's going. If you aren't sure which is which in your vehicle it's best to look up a wiring diagram to make sure.

Yes it usually is. Always best to check with a meter to be sure. You're going to need a meter anyway to check and recheck your connections.
