Didn't they merge because Nissan was heading toward bankruptcy? If hope that Honda would influence Nissan in the merger, and not the other way around.

Maybe Honda wants that sweet Nissan CVT transmission all for themselves? Hilarious when these companies pushing planned obsolesce become obsolete themselves.

Honda should go back to NA VTEC engines, simple light weight cars that are easy to maintain, cheap to buy, fun to drive and reliable

The government ruined that with all the safety and emissions requirements. Unless EPA and DOT are reigned in by the new President you'll never see cars like that again.

I worked for Honda twice. From 09-12 they were still what a technician considered reliable. My second go around in 2022 was an absolute shit show. The vehicles are no longer reliable. By any stretch. Nearly 51 million households don't earn enough to afford a monthly budget that includes housing, food, child care, health care, transportation and a cell phone, according to a study released Thursday by the United Way ALICE Project. That's 43% of households in the United States.May

I knew that Nissan have been crap for a while now, but didn't know about Honda going downhill. That's news to me!

@@nwzimmer1I strongly disagree that Honda, or Nissan are no longer reliable. There isn’t proper, or credible evidence that supports that. Recalls, and some bad CVT’s for a couple model years, doesn’t disqualify Honda, or even Nissan as a whole when it comes to reliability. The costs however, I do agree have went up significantly in the last 5yrs. Toyota, Honda, and Nissan still for 2025 produce, and manufacture the most reliable engines in the automotive industry. That’s the simple truth. Yeah Toyota had some contamination get into some of their engines during the manufacturing process, but that’s not the engineering aspect. Toyota still comes out on top as one of the best brands, if not the best brand to purchase from. They are replacing those engines with what may very well be million mile engines. I’ve done quite a bit of research on their new turbo engines, and Toyota knows what they are doing. Those turbo engines are the best quality of any of the other competitors by a considerable margin. Those engines are a testament some of most advanced engineering at its finest when it comes to automotive gasoline engines. Toyota won’t be down for long. I would still buy a brand new Tacoma or Tundra if I could afford it. Toyota is good about handling any issues that they have. GM, Ford, and Chrysler just don’t offer engines like that.

It's easy to trace where they both went horribly wrong. Nissan and those horrible Jatco CVTs marked the end of their good cars. With their trash 1.5L engines constantly mixing fluids and leaking, Honda can't handle short trips. Both these companies lost their way. Toyota is right behind them now that the last Toyo left the company.

if Honda was smart which I kinda think they are, they would shutter infiniti and move those engineers and designers to Nissan proper... stay away from the turbo hamster wheels and build reliable NA engines mated to regular tried and true transmissions instead of that newfangled CV crap. this shit ain't difficult.

Honda gets a body on frame that's missing in their lineup. They can drop most of the Nissan and Infinitii lineup. Frontier, Titan, and Armada fill holes in Honda lineup. Make Pathfinder body on frame and offroad capable like it used to be and now they compete directly with 4Runner.
