K series are probably the cheapest tuner builds tho of any platform... v8s? Forget about it... v6s? Forget about... 4 cylinder tuner cars are all more expensive than Hondas... VWs, Audi's, SRT4s, Ford ST/RS... All of them cost more.. Prices are up all around the board. But u can still get a clean, low-mile K24/20 for 600-1400 range depending on which one u go with. And most K series can reliably hold 400-500whp bone stock on top of being reliable.. K series are a bargain in my opinion.

I know vw/Audi are $$$. Yeah, you can get a full k24, low mileage, vtec long block for $1100. The engines are affordable yes, but some of the accessories are expensive, like certain headers, trans, tuning software, etc
@JonHop15 ай бұрын
@@TheGerbsteve Yeah but that is everything these days... the cost of goods and accessories are sky high for everything... Its just the sad state of things right now... Hopefully we will see some change in November 😉

@@cleatcheck45 Audi's run all types of different engines... My point is just that they are massively expensive to build and gather parts for, compared to a Honda. That 2.5 5-cylinder is a great engine tho

Parts are expensive af in 2024 with this inflation. The Type R Fk8 is ridiculous for any part. I'm surprised you're not going with a frankinstien setup with K20 head with K24 bottom.

Oem piston ring set for k24a2 is $400, a single bearing either main or rod are almost $20! That means 5 main bearing halves, 4 rod bearing halves, means $360!

The K series transmissions are the most expensive, hardest to find, and riskiest swap part. I got my 04 RSX-S 6 speed trans for $800 and then I spent $160 on an OEM Type R flywheel, $500 on an OEM LSD, and another $500 on a taller TSX 5th gear and 9th gen Si 6th gear, so I got ~$2000 just in the trans. I'm still not really done though because it has the notorious 3rd gear grind/pop out and a new 3rd gear set is about $450, which I may not bother with unless it gets worse since it's so infrequent and slight.

Rrc is the jdm fd2 civic type R. They are crazy expensive now bc they're discontinued but some sellers from japan still sell them between $500-$700 new. Even when i went rbb3 k24a, the motor itself was fairly priced at $1100 shipped to my door, I ended up spending around $3600 total even with swapping parts over from my z3. People r k swapping everything nowdays so im sure that plays a role too.

Honestly the mazdaspeed platform is the new "honda" right now, its cheap and engines are everywhere in the junk yard as they swap the ford 2.5 bottom end and they reuse 2.3 mazdaspeed head and the ford 2.5 bottom ends have beefier rods too, plus they use ford parts as they are wayyyy cheaper than mazda parts as ford owns mazda in those years. Kswaps and parts is getting expensive every day😐😐. Plus the mazdaspeed transmissions are bullet proof and also has awd option if you build a speed6 instead of a speed3

Have a k24 swap in my car how can I prevent oil pump failure on mine? I shift at 7600 since that’s when my shift light starts blinking but I drive 100 miles to and from work each weekday and I am worried I could have a similar issue.
