As all of us are getting older and the large 800 lb cruisers become too much to handle, this particular bike at something just short of 500 lbs gives us all what we want in terms of power, reliability, comfort and easy handling.

I’m still riding my 94 Magna. It has ruined me for anything else. I’ve owned it longer than any other bike I’ve ever owned. It is addictive. That V4 is awesome. It caused me to buy the Honda CTX1300A for long hauls. I made my Magna my own. It was Black when new, now sports a Corvette 50th Anniversary Ruby Red Tri-coat paint scheme with the original Magna logo buried in the clear coat on the tank as the original was. I upgraded grips like yours, windshield, sagglebags, Mustang saddle, stainless steel brake hose, Dave Dodge carb kit installed and changing LED glow lighting along with polished forks and wheels. I installed Mitchelin Commander II tires and really increased the handling performance as well.

I love this bike ! I have not done anything yet, but I am planning to re-jetting the carb and change the exhaust/air filter....you got a cool Magna ! Thanks

That is awesome! The bike is versatile so you can really turn it into whatever you want. I had a Mustang seat when I was using it to tour but sold that a couple years ago. The Mustang was a better option for that and could take a passenger more effectively. The Corbin is perfect for my current use of the bike. Believe it or not, I've had it redone once by Corbin after years of wear. So if you find that you ever wear yours out, you can send it in and they will completely recover it for you and send it back for cheaper than it would take you to buy a new seat. It will be like new when you get it back. Enjoy and thanks for watching!

I still have my 1996 Honda VF 750c Magna, bright red. It is absolutely stock but I would like to swap the exhuasts. The mid-foot controls do benefit the handling, especially through the twisty country English B-Roads. The choke is automatic, unless you've wound the friction ring on the reverse in or out, so, start up and ride is possible and indeed desired, leaving it ticking over for minutes at a time every time you start it isn't going to help the top end. Of course the Yamaha V-Max was available at the same time as the Magna BUT it never handled as well as the Magna, brilliant in a straight line, so ideal for the States.
@RavanasamudramVenkatachalam5 ай бұрын
i had a 82 Magna which i bought used and thoroughly enjoyed it. I didn't ride it for a year and gave it away thinking i was going to get a new bike which never happened. I sorely miss the bike and some are available used. But nobody does a valve job on those bikes anymore, and so i haven't ventured to buy one. It would be great if Honda would bring it back retaining the shaft drive and some modernization such as fuel injection and rear disc brakes and possibly ABS as everyone is going in that direction. I would buy it in a heartbeat. Maybe we can all get together and put up a joint statement to Honda to bring it back which may make Honda take notice? I am game.

@@wherethereisfaith I'm glad you were able to sort something out! Once you pass that 6500 flat spot, does it take off after 7+? Hello, Yeah, you only really notice it if you blip the throttle at about 65 to 70 mph. I'll have to check and see what the tachometer is showing at that speed to know for sure. Decently comfortable, suprisingly nimble. Mileage isn't too good for long trips with the tank size. (46mpg avg) but you dont get a magna for the mpg! Im not much of a fan with the 3rd generation. Dropping the overdrive gear I felt was a mistake. I don't think I would purchase a new magna however. Im not too much of a fan of black box ecu programming. Would rather have open source tech. Though i would be glad to have a future source of new motors to retrofit once parts become rare for these bikes. Thanks to this bike. Im hunting down a Honda Sabre v65. I really like the mods you made on your Honda, especially moving the controls forward. I am tall at 6' 5" and I tip the scales at somewhere between 270 and 280lbs now. I am also 67 years old. I would love to get a lighter bike for running close to home or commuting to work. The Victory Vision is great for longer rides, but cumbersome for a lot of stop and go. I have a 32 inseam and Mid controls are really not far enough out for me. I am considering an adventure style either Mid Range like the MG V85TT or a Super Tenere. Both would be quite a bit lighter and could double as a Touring bike. We have a lot of dirt and gravel in SD and while I have ridden it on the Vision, it is a bit dicey. I also need to consider whether I can handle a second motorcycle space wise since my wife has a Trike and both her bike and mine together doesn't leave much space. From what I can see your Magna could be a contender if modified like yours.
@chasingredlineofficial2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Vincent. The adventure bike category would probably be clutch in those gravel conditions. Definitely a different seating position than the Magna though. Putting the forward controls on it makes for a comfortable ride. Hard to beat the price tag on a Magna though for what you get. I see one out in St Charles on CraigsList right now for $2k with windshield and two-up Corbin seat and stock everything else. Stock pipes can be pretty quiet so would check your second touring bike if you wanted it to. If you want to cover distance, I'd recommend the seat mustang sells with it. I think some of my photos in the video have that seat on it. I used to fit my car and the magna in a single car garage so it can hug a wall pretty well if you need it to. The only downside for touring is no 6th gear. Let me know what you decide to do!

The original v45 and v65 largely being where that tracks back to. So was your bike converted to forward controls before you bought it or are you looking for something further back than the mid-controls that came stock? Thanks for tuning in!
@jonbar140 Жыл бұрын
@@chasingredlineofficial Might have been converted. It's a '98 but I went and looked at it after watching this and it looks like it may have been modded. Bolts don't match any others on the bike and there's odd branding on the extenders. Planning on trying to put them back next weekend. Never would have known if I hadn't watched the video, thanks!

@@jonbar140 Awesome man! I converted my own so I could provide you some pictures of what the original peg kit looks like if that would help you. You could at least tell what is original vs what was added. There are a few different ways to do forward control conversion and most of them are rip and replace. Reach out at info@chasingredline.com if you'd like to send me a photo of it.

Put the V65 engine in the rebel 1100 and call it the Magna 1100 or the V65 Rebel
@chasingredlineofficial Жыл бұрын
Doing what you stated would definitely get into the ballpark of what a new Magna could be while remaining true to the name. I hear the 1100 Rebel has quite a bit of pep as-is but I think they could do a 1-up with a modern v65 adaptation and get to a bike that someone could take the the drag strip and have a great time! Throw some crazy marketing in the mix similar to the magna commercials of ol'. I took a moment to listen to your Rebel 500 muffler chop. Sounded great! Thanks for watching!

What’s the front fender off of?
@chasingredlineofficial10 ай бұрын
They are actually a line of custom fenders that used to be made by Cobra. Google search "Cobra Magnafied" and you will find some information on what they were doing.

What you doing with that mustang seat??
@chasingredlineofficial6 ай бұрын
I actually sold it a while after buying the Victory. I had originally added the Mustang so my wife would be more comfortable. But now we take the Vic if she is with me. So went back to the Corbin. That Mustang was a very nice seat while I was touring with the Magna.

I've just checked my MPG, I have never checked before, it never bothered me , i have seen write ups that say 42mpUKg not US = 34.97 But I'm getting 95 mpg @ 3UK Gallons =31mpg = 25.82 US MPG So it seems I am giving it the beans all the time, I do have a nice sweepy 9miles stretch on my daily, that I rarely back off of 120mph though! (5am).

Thanks for the comments! Glad you like your ride. I probably average about 35mpg most of the time on it. Does depend on how I ride though. I understand on the mid control handling but boy are those forward controls more comfortable. Have a good one!

Definitely not a beginner bike, it's a little too much to hold a title like that, for some it would be fine, but for most it would be too much.

Thanks for jumping in. Can def get someone in trouble if they don't keep it in the low RPM range early on.
