Few months ago I picked up a '22 manual NT1100 with just over 9K miles on it, one previous owner ... came with full voyage pack upgrade and some choice aftermarket extras. Paid just over £8K for it and I'm really pleased with it. Already done loads more miles on it in 4 months than I did on my last bike in a whole year. Really comfortable, very practical, outstanding wind and weather protection, plenty of grunty torque .. it destroys long motorway journeys and has handling easily good enough to raise smiles and laughs in the twisties. A grand machine for sure 😊
@bhtooefrАй бұрын
A thought re: the NT1100's taller seat height: while it is 820 mm vs. the 2021+ NC750X's 800 mm, it also has 150 mm suspension travel front and rear vs. the NC's 120 mm, and 175 mm ground clearance vs. the NC's 145 mm. (The old NC700/750X was 830 mm seat height, 137-153 mm front depending on market/150 mm rear travel, and 165 mm ground clearance, FWIW.) This means that... raise a 2021+ NC by 20 mm or lower a NT1100 by 20 mm, and the NT1100 still has more ground clearance and suspension travel. Which, if ground clearance and suspension travel *really* matters, the Africa Twin exists, but.

When comparing prices one needs to remember that this bike comes with a lot of things that are normally extras on other bikes. The NT100 DCT is currently £13650, comes with Centre Stand, Heated Grips, Panniers, TFT dash, Self Cancel Indicators and Cruise Control. The NC750x DCT with CS, HG, Panniers is £11301 and has no TFT or Roadsync compatibilty, SCI or CC. Hopefully I aint missed nuffink. I am currently trying to decide between the two, not easy. At 69 with Arthritis I need a comfy bike and having ridden lots of auto or DCT models am sold on that for my next bike. Current bike is a Transalp 750 which is a bit disappointing torque wise, if they did a DCT version I think I would get that. Great review BTW
@Crohniebiker10 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comments. I agree if the transalp had dct I would have gone for it myself. I might add that after riding the transalp and the NC back to back the NC feels more torque from the off ,however the transalp would pass it once the revs go skyward. For me it's also about maneuvering the bike in and out of the garage too, so that's another reason I bought the NC750X . I love it and it's a very capable bike 🏍 Thanks for watching 👍

Love my bike but might think of an upgrade to the NT1100 DCT but Honda South Africa don't bring them into this country.Only the AT but I'm not that interested in off road, plus the AT is comparatively top heavy and not worth two NCs ! Just for the V4. Awesome bike. Smooth. Quick. Agile. Cheap! 13 grand for an NT? Nope. 3 grand for a Pan which does exactly the same job, minus the DCT, but is infinitely smoother and has bags more character.

The answer to critics I would give is that less fatigue from clutch hand and mental fatigue as the DCT would reduce that fatigue. Now in slow turns where it uses rear brake instead of clutch, when one or the other gets worn out, which is cheaper and easier to replace? Rear brake or the clutch?

Interesting comparison. I love my 2023 NC750X dct and the NT1100 seems like the natural progression from my bike. Considering the standard spec on the NT1100 (panniers, centre stand, heated grips, cruise control etc) I think it's pretty good value for money. However, I do find the looks of the NT1100 a bit bland, and the choice of black/ white and grey colours very dull. I think Honda are doing it in a dark red and a matt blue for 2024, which will improve the appeal a bit. Shame Honda don't offer the new Transalp with DCT.

@Crohniebiker I suspect that the decision not to offer the Transalp with DCT was because Honda doesn't want to take sales away from the Africa Twin. The problem with that is that, of your want the Adventure Sport Africa Twin (the more road based model) with DCT, you have to have the more expensive ES model, which comes out around £17,500.

The issue I am worried about is I am 6'6, but I want a bike that is easy to ride and not have to worry about gears. I had a SYM 125 Evo back when I was 20 which I enjoyed zooming about on, but because it was Korean made it was hard to get parts to fix. Tbh I think Honda could have saved a lot of R&D money and just stuck cruise control on the NC750X and had a better overall motorway bike. As you noted, the NC has a lower cruising rpm than the NT, it's also a more nimble bike and is more economical. The extra wind protection of the NT is a bit hit and miss too. To me the NT is pretty niche - you sort of need to be too boring for an Africa Twin but then think the NC750 is too slow and you need to accept the additional weight and expense.
@Crohniebiker Жыл бұрын
Yes I felt that there wasn't much difference in initial pull off the torque felt much the same on both bike's, but obviously the NT carries on building power up the rev range where the NC starts to drop off. Both great bike tho! Thanks for watching 👍

Agreed. I almost pulled the trigger on a NC750 last year taking for granted that cruise control was at least an optional extra. Was amazed when I discovered its not. They really missed a trick there, on what is otherwise a good long distance tourer. Yes I know, you don't need cruise control, but once you've had it you do!

I did almost the same thing. Took my CB500X in for a service and tried out the NT1100 for an hour. Really impressed with how light and nimble it was and obviously the extra torque was brilliant. When I got back they were having problems fixing the honda heated grips on my 500 so he said have a look round and take out something else. I thought I may aswell have a bit of fun and choose something I'd never actually buy. I've ridden a goldwing and toyed with the Indian Scout, but went with a BMW R1250 gs, even though I'm not a dentist. Omg that was the biggest mistake of my life. I didn't want to get off it. So smooth, torquey and comfortable and the manoeuvrability and nimbleness at slow speed was amazing, probably because of the low c.o.g. Spent the next few hours plotting how I'm going to explain it to the wife as we were having a new porch and front door put in the following week! Anyway, 2 weeks later I got one and just wish I'd tried one 20 years ago and saved myself a lot of time and money chopping and changing different bikes. This one will see me out now as for me I love how it rides and does absolutely everything impeccably. Shaft drive is also a definite advantage too for me. Had I not tried the gs though I'd have definitely swapped the 500x for the NT100 the same day. Cruise control and all day comfort were the USPs for me.
