Used to go there as a kid in the 70s. Great go-cart track and this funny shop with a big pink octopus sign hanging outside. The thing I remember most was the smell of the place. Powerful & evocative. Lovely to see it from your bike. 👍

Ha! I had similar vibes from Brixham, probably 50yrs ago and I haven't been back since! Maybe I should try it again then.... Your "Pirate ship" is the life-size replica if the Golden Hind, built in Appledore, North Devon and launched in 1973. She's circumnavigated the globe since as well as multiple Atlantic crossings 👍

My brother lived in Brixham for about a year before he got itchy feet again and everytime I went there, the weather was like this. You're right though, I used to park at his house and walk everywhere and there are some serious hills. We caught one of the boat ferries to Torquay and back, only £2 (7 years ago). Lovely little place on a bike I imagine.😊

I do mention the tall folk...they have pushed the tank up a bit to allow for longer legs...I think it should be ok.

I do love the side fairings on these, they look so aggressive 💪 You’re right that dash display is very pleasing on the eye ☺️ Brixham does look very pleasant, totally agree with what you said about going to places like this on the bike, so much easier than going in the car. Like you, ER, my recollections of Brixham weren't good which is why I haven't been back there in over 25 years. You were quite right about the wooden ship being a pirate ship. As Ken mentioned in his comment the ship is a replica of the Golden Hind which was one of Sir Francis Drake's ships and he, although a national hero, was basically a pirate sponsored by Elizabeth I.

Brixham looks beautiful. The NX looks very similar to the CB500X. Hired one of those in Madeira and enjoyed it. Most of us are bikers and certainly get that it is better on two wheels (at least in the summer sun)

Yeap, the 500x is on its way out to make way for this one....I reviewed the 500x 2019 model ( there is a video somewhere)and had issues with it, 1 being the screen was too low/windy/buffety, the dash was too dark, and the engine was mapped real bad....They have sorted all this on the NX500

perfect little town that has to many people in it! lol, i agree about simple life. hope to have that over the next year or so. thanks for sharing that, if its local to you, then i would make that a city navigation part of reviewing the bike. has every thing from people, cars, trucks, crosswalks, narrow roads, i would call that a great place! till it gets stupid hot. today will be 87 degrees. not my type of weather. but i will embrace as it is normally just this hot for half of June then July and August. then back to good weather.

It's great to be back on the bikes on nice days for a change. It's been a long while, hasn't it? Probably the most miserable winter I remember. Brixham does seem very nice. I went past it last time I was in Devon. Chish and Fipps sound nice - is it vegetarian? This bike seems quite interesting. Looking forward to the full review.

Always wondered if that Golden Hind was the one that disappeared from Southend. My memories of Brixham are having ice cream taken by gulls. (Having read other replies it's not, I remember the Southend one back in the 60's)

I really must stop off in Brixham next time...a bit to see there but only if I ride down, I cant be bothered with parking the car and all that messing around....I couldn't tell you if it was the Golden Hind...but something rings a bell from the news years ago about that boat so it could be that one. Like look of that bike ER. I used to waterski at brixham, Paignton and Torquay. Drive from midlands arriving at 9am. Tow car and fuel for boat all paid by mates company car credit card. Had some lovely days there and a pint after in harbour. Was expensive difficult parking tho. Great scooter territory. I ve just spent 5 hrs deep cleaning my vstrom incl the spoked wheels. What a pain. I can see me getting a forza easy clean

Forzas are nice bikes... and yes, the updates on this new NX make it a very desirable bike...lovely tft screen and only the tech you really need.....I did like it and thats coming from someone who wasnt a big fan of the CB500

Very nice Exmouth. Not as nice as Exmouth, Exmouth but nice nonetheless. As a wealthy KZbinr myself, I could probably afford a nice place in Brixham, in a top location and start a new channel from there. The Brixham Biker Channel. BBC for short. That domain name is sure to be free for my website. Hmmmm 🤔 Definitely worth considering but the rain and bad road surfaces would probably get on my t*ts. On the other hand, the Chish and Fips would be decent. 🤔 The NX500 seems like a very sensible bike to me. Not too expensive, not too powerful but powerful enough to get the job done. Probably reasonably light too. I look forward to your full review 🙂 As you know, I am a fan of motorcycling on a small budget amongst other things ( "Oh, hi Dave ! " ) 😇 Apropos "Dave", that picture of "Dave" briefly got flashed up again in tonight's video. Well I think it did. I might have imagined it. I have been thinking about "Dave" a lot lately, so maybe it was just a figment of my overactive imagination. But either way, whatever you do, don't tell "Dave" because after that last little malheur I did promise to never do it again 🤗 Take care Steve and good luck with the grouting or whatever it is you are up to today ! It really is a nicely put together bike this one....I was never too much of a fan of the 500x .....well the older ones anyway, but this all works well. I think your imagination is going a bit wild mate haha...thats why you need the time off! Thanks sir el outro Stephen ,Exmouth

We were at Bridge last Friday and saw this bike, my mate is thinking of getting one, well he has already so just upgrading. Went to Brixham couple of years ago on the bike, took my helmet off and a gull crapped on my head, what a mess lol😂. By the way sold my Honda 750X DCT last November, treated myself to a brand new Tracer 7 GT with the extras and money off deal they were doing at the time, (Bransons, Yeovil), have you done a review on this bike?

I have ridden it but sadly Yamaha and Kawasaki promotional companys wont let me post videos on on KZbin (make no sense to me either) I quite liked it though as I did the 900 tracer. Lighter than the old NC to my memory...Do you prefer it to the NC? I could see why if you did ,they both offer different things. Damn pesty seagulls!

@@exeterrider I try and change my bike every three years if possible. The Tracer will be my last bike as I’m now in my 76th year and needed something lighter, the NC was considerably heavier, the deal on the Tracer was excellent and they gave me a fair part exchange price so a no brainer really. The NC DCT is a really good bike and I would never knock it, the Tracer however is nicer to ride and handles so much better, it’s blue with gold wheels. Extras are Yamaha heated grips, centre stand, top box and engine bars, I have fitted front and rear fender extenders and a Givi tankbag. Three tours booked this summer.

I was considering getting the NX500 brand new over getting second hand CB500X 22+. Wanted to really save money on the servicing you would have to do at dealer to keep warranty on brand new one. So opted for the CB500X 2022 second hand with already modification I wanted to get anyway. Saving me money on servicing and modifications i wanted to purchase. Looking for to your full review on the NX500. I see you using the demo bike from bridge. I did my test ride on that bike before considering the CB500X.

I would have done exactly the same Ashtek....a lot of money can be lost on new bikes with serving the first 600 etc etc. I did find the updates on this model very good ondeed though...Those 500 engines are fantastic!

@@exeterrider They very capable engines on the CBX and NX. Tye upgrades on the NX would have been nice like the TFT screen and the traction control. But think I happily not have them. Nice simple handlebar controls on CBX is where I like things….

Torquay is a S-hole. Paignton worse. Brixham quaint but rammed in the summer with tourists. Dartmouth.....ahh thats classy. How do I know? Well I was born and bred there (although now in the Cotswolds) !

I quite like Torquay sea front but as you know some of the back streets are pretty bad...Babbacombe and those little coves are still nice. Paignton again same thing really...The money councils have gtes wasted on other stupid schemes while everything else falls apart. Cotwolds Rob....very posh! : )

@@exeterrider Cotswolds is nice and the great thing is we have NO traffic issues except the pot holes. You can see that Torquay was nice once and the sea fron and harbour area nice but its trashy and Paignton is worse - the only nice bit is round by the harbour. Llandudno is a Regency resort and everything Torbay SHOULD be! But take your channel down to Dartmouth - take the car ferry across from Kingswear (my home village) - Dartmouth is well preserved! Well done mate !
