I guess the EPA isn't involved in this situation because the OEM's would start getting fined for all the refrigerant that's constantly leaking out into the atmosphere. Then they would triple check the quality of a/c parts.

That is unbelievable that Honda would say the refrigerant leak is normal.
@terryharvey48113 жыл бұрын
OK, shaft seals are lubed by oil and gas seeping out so yes they leak, but EPA says over 1/2 oz. per year must be fixed. At 1/2 oz per year, that's 1 1/2 oz. in 3 years. Less gas used in late model cars could easily cause performance issues. If you see soapy water bubbles or your sniffer indicates a shaft seal leak, you can bet the farm the leak is well in excess of 1/2 oz. per year....Honda is just ducking responsibility or worse yet, putting the customer off until warranty expires and he has to pay for the fix. TYPICAL MFG PRACTICE..,,...

Hello. Interesting topic on the quality of Honda OEM parts. I have a question if you dont mind me asking, would turning over a 4cyl Honda B-series motor by hand (crank pulley) without oil in it cause any damage? My motor may have consumed some water due to a recent storm so I drained the motor oil/transmission fluid and pulled the spark plugs out, I'm assuming if there is any water remaining inside the motor that by turning it over by hand, the compression action would possibly help evacuate any water. Thank you for your time.

Hey FRM - Wasn't the new OEM condenser pressurized with plugs installed? I noticed the aftermarket evaporator and condenser I got for my 01 Integra were pressurized, and when u slowly remove the plugs you can hear the hissing/air come out. Which is a good way to prove the parts have no leaks before you install them! My condenser had some damage out of the box it was bowed/bent and I worried it leak. But I just carefully unbent it and then heard the hissing after I loosened the plugs, and after installing them so far no leaks!

We agree, In my personal opinion I dislike Honda. I have a 2018 Honda Civic and ever since 10,000 miles the rear main seal has been leaking, I got it replaced under warranty at 20,000 miles, sure as shit once I changed the oil at 30,000 miles the thing is leaking once again. Other than that, the constant oil changes because of the oil being diluted in the winter is rather annoying and it blows my mind that Honda has that problem with their GDI but on other GDI vehicles its not as big of a problem. I will say that the interior is definitely very nice and I will give Honda that, my 9 hour road trips that occur a couple times a year are very easy going in the much improved interior.
