First impressions comparing genuine Honda OEM engine/motor mounts with aftermarket motor mounts from Autozone (Duralast brand)
I order most of my OEM parts from HondaPartsNow.com and eBay. Between the two of those I have been able to source every OEM part I am looking for. Physically going into a Honda dealer has never really been anything but a headache and I tend to avoid it at all costs unless im just buying ATF fluid.
The OEM mounts are going into my 2008 Honda Element EX AWD
I am replacing all 4 motor mounts, but in this video we are only comparing 2 mounts; the front engine mount, and the passenger side engine mount.
HUGE thanks to Miguel ‪@Element_lifestyle‬ for installing these parts for me. He has installed $2,000 of OEM Honda parts in my Element in the past few weeks.

For want is wroth, I have 2 pilots, one I bought new and the other one I bought used. When it was time to replace the motor and trans mounts I bought OEM parts from the dealer and it cost me an arm and a leg! On my used one I bought my parts from the internet, and they were way cheaper. Fast forward… a replaced the OEM at 6 years, and aftermarket at 4.5 years. I spent about $750 at the dealer and $220 at parts geek. On the OEM, I started to noticed the wear at about 4-5th year of use. Aftermarket, after 2-3 years. In my opinion, if you doing the work, buy quality aftermarket that have warranty. You will save some goodg gas money. But if you taking your cars to the shop and paying labor, buy OEM.

There ‘s a balance to be struck here. As much a I love my element, my expectations have to be realistic. It will not live forever. My 19 year old 2003 with 325 000 km wasn’t really worth spending OEM prices on, so I opted for Beck/Arnley mounts from RockAuto. Aftermarket, but a “upmarket” brand. A year later and they do seem firmer than factory, but I have no real complaints or regrets about installing them.

Same. My civic is an 09 and the motor mount is 250. My pockets… I also his swap axles. Arm controls. Bearings likely need to be changed. Spark plugs are starting to give out… rear struts should be swapped… grrrr

I have an ‘07 Civic with 130k miles. Bought it two years ago and the first thing I did was replace the mounts, well not me but my then mechanic. That was in April of 2021. It is now December of 2023 and I’m with a new mechanic now having to replace the mounts again. From this experience I don’t think I’ll ever do aftermarket again. I think the price of OEM parts and the peace of mind it brings that they will function for a longer duration is better than having to worry about replacing mounts every 1-2 years. My mounts started giving out last year as my car got louder and vibration increased. The way I see it if you plan of having the car a for a while it’s better to do OEM than having to replace these parts 1-2 years because ultimately it’ll add up. What’s the difference of paying $600 for 5-6 years and paying $150 every 1-2 years

is not just how much longer the oem part will last but the felling of the car will be different - After market transfer the vibrations of the engine to the cabin
@jeffreykarg5608
@jeffreykarg5608 6 ай бұрын
Excluding life value, the difference could be in the response curve to applied torque. You could get a rougher ride due to more force transmission between the engine and the frame. The Duralast parts, similar to many aftermarket motor mounts, have thicker and stiffer elastomer dampeners. Stiffer shocks mean more bumps. The value is the right dampening plus life of the part.

Honda OEM parts last longer, don’t want to use cheap parts and have to replace them again later. I have an 04 that I bought new and replaced my motor mounts about 3 years ago. Aftermarket are ok if you are looking to get rid of the car. Tip, you may want to consider using a scale to weigh parts.

Used duralast on the rear mount for a 2010 Corolla and brought way to much engine vibration to the cabin. Worst than the original being replaced. Got burned on this one. Will be ordering OEM. Never again when it comes to engine mounts.

I've owned Hondas and Acuras throughout the years and currently do I learned my lesson many years ago not to use aftermarket motor mounts on a Honda even though AutoZone does offer a lifetime warranty you'll be paying the labor cost all over again or if you do it yourself the labor the hassle of reinstalling aftermarket replacement motor mounts when you buy a Honda OEM is the one-time job and that's it I'm in California too but I purchased from Honda factory parts no taxes and their parts are cheaper than Honda parts now .

Recently picked up an 04 Element with 164k on the odo. Bought it knowing it needed A LOT of work. Long story short, my budget wasn't in the realm of OEM parts. I rolled the dice and bought the TRQ branded parts from 1A auto. Hopefully they last, but now I know how to change all those parts out LOL. 4 strut assemblies 4 sway bar links Engine mounts Alternator Power Steering pump Power steering reservoir hose (oem) 4 new tires and alignment. Been my daily for a month now and I love that Element. :D

I recently got a 2010 Accord Lx n it needs mad work. Yesterday my castle nut came completely off the lower control arm n I was stuck in a Walmart for hours. The fuckin wheel was basically off, ripped the CV axel out, n maybe bent my sway bar. I keep seeing TRQ pop up for the parts I need. I would love to fix up everything with oem parts but I’m a broke ass college student. Have you had any problems with the TRQ parts n would you recommend em ? Also how’s the car holding up ?

I have an unpopular opinion on this one from a DIYer like myself. I don't mind paying a fraction of the price and will be fully happy having it last me 2 years. I don't mind doing a job two years down the line. At that point I feel like I got my money's worth. Besides, what fun will it be if you never get to Work on your car? Having a car is an experience and working on it is part of the journey.

if you have extra rubber ears from the old top mount I'd use them on that aftermarket lower front... I should have but spaced out... but yeah the top one hardly needs it and the bottom needs those rubber buffers... since it doesnt have them the lil ears might work...

The siphirical cemetric tightness in the OEM is way better years and years better and tight. A after market engine mount is loose as after market ball joints and tie rods . . Like engine oil at AutoZone on the shelf it's all aftermarket. No car dealership used AutoZone oil or cheap mounts. But the main mount needs to be OEM the rest can be aftermarket. It has a ball joint inside it.. that other mount your looking at is just plastic that they didn't cut out . It isn't part of the mount

I think its the quality and density of the rubber. When I think about it, a good chunk of car maintenance is just replacing some sort of rubber that has worn down. Whether it be a gasket or a bushing or a dampener of some sort. The quality of the rubber is of paramount importance and you can bet that the Japanese feel this way

I've been thru too many aftermarket motor mounts, pure garbage (97 Accord). OEM are hard to find and if you do they are overpriced. I was lucky to find the front mounts on Ebay ($20 for original Honda) so I grabbed two. I have to do the rear, again, and I'm dreading it; can't find original (it's 12/2023). I hear Anchor isn't that good but BECK/ARNLEY may be better...HELP!!!

You did not do your research for this video; the thing to check is do the aftermarket mounts, with harder material, vibrate and damage the vehicle vs the softer rubber in an OEM part, or a part direct from the manufacturer. The debate regarding changing your mounts is based on the fact that they use a new, hard material for mounts nowadays that causes intense vibrations; this is why some people recommend you go to the junkyard and get a mount off one of those cars instead of buying new; that mount came from the factory and has the old, good rubber material. What you did in this video is irrelevant to the topic of the video; mounts= vibrations; a visual inspection doesn't matter.
