Honda Rebel 500, The Perfect Commuter?

My thoughts on the Rebel 500 abs as a commuting motorcycle. It's also my first attempt at a motovlog, it's so bad, enjoy.

I love your commute; so envious! I have a 2018 Rebel 500 ABS, but pushing through 4 light changes at an intersection during rush hour, nope. I use my pick-up for that.😊

The Dead South at the beginning was an excellent touch. Thinking about getting this bike since countless say this is a great bike for the price. Girlfriend wants to learn to ride too and eventually I'd pass this one onto her. Think it would be a great fit for her.

So I've had the 500 for a bit over a year, and it still gets my heart racing! I still think it's a perfect commuter and that's because it's just so easy to ride and so stable. My wife will be learning to ride on mine, so yes I think it's a great option.

Just going through getting my full license here in UK. Had a look at one of these at local dealer. If Finance’s allow this will be my choice of bike. Felt like a great fit and part of me when I sat on it. Keep vlogging and let us know your thoughts about the bike.

Hello Dude, I think this is the first video about Rebel 500 in the rain. Your comments are so real and honest thank-you. Is this your first motovlog? it's nice, but you cut clean the video at the end, it's brutal for me. Please what tire you are using in the rain condition with this Rebel500 ? can not be the stock tire, it will kills you :) If it's not so personal, I'm 5f6 short or tall rider. How tall are you? why i'm asking? because 6f and taller riders use not to like this bike so much.

Sounds like you just have a bad switch on that turning signal. Get it replaced under warranty while you can!

Good point maybe i have a lemon switch, I will certainly discuss with the dealer. But I know others have reported similar problems, possible bad batch.

ryan.rozz I have just brought this bike, it’s not a lemon switch. My switch also sucks. You do get used to it but it takes a lot of fumbling to work it. Love the bike though.

Thank you so much for this awesome informative video!! I’m looking into getting the same bike to commute to work but I was wondering how long of a commute you use it for (because my commute is about 50mins each way)

I would take the direct route in (always running late) and ride for 35 minutes but I’d take the long way home and that could be 1.5 hours or more depending on the day.

I swapped the bars day 1 to something wider and straighter, I've added hand guards but that's it.

The Rebel 500 is a great bike but i think that the CB500X, same motor, is a much better all around bike, a better commuter.

Haha yes the cb500x was on my radar during my bike search, I went with the Rebel for its overall stable geometry and incredibly forgiving ride. It builds confidence and lends itself well to learning (low seat height and engine tuning). You do trade off windscreen, better seat, better guages, tire options and that sweet rally raid kit! But not everyone is into the look, I should have stated that maybe its the perfect commuter in the small cruiser bracket. haha

Honda CB500X or Honda CBR500 are great bikes but the girlfriend that rides motorbikes is only 5'1" so not an option. Might consider changing the girlfriend so I can buy the CBR500.

At the time of this video I was on stock tires. It was my first vlog, lots to learn about making good videos still, if I make more I'll try to clean them up better. And I'm 5'10
