Amazing progress! I would rubber cap or somehow protect the AN lines just before the tunnel where they might abrade against the sharp edge of the (fuel tank i think) bracket with the die holes in it? Looks like a sharp metal edge. Maybe bend the metal over? something because vibration and time will eat the hose

Some years ago a friend went out on a limb and bought a neglected Maserati Merak in a "not running" condition. He persevered in trying to get the Peugeot-based V6 engine working. It ended up being a good-money-after-bad exercise. He fitted a Toyota 4-cyl DOHC engine with carburetors. I think it was a 2 litre unit. He reckoned that it was in keeping with Maserati's 4cyl tradition of the Typo 60/61 Birdcage. He fitted it in a north-south mid-engine arrangement with a different transaxle. It was an excellent solution. You have done a great job on the idea and the execution of a different and better Ferrari.

For the push lock hose you can dress it up with some expandable braided sleeving to make it mimic the rest of the lines. Should be easy to find higher temp ratings as well since its commonly used in automotive applications. I know the hose wont be seen but its one of those things that you'll know its there.

I had an 86 Etta! Loved it. The only reason I sold it is because it was a four-door and I was young and wanted 2 door car. You have two of my favorite cars. The Ferrari 308 I think is one of the most beautiful body designs. And the BMW because it's boxy, cute, and will last forever if you take care of it.

Those are great cars, they drive good, i got 30 miles to the gallon commuting, and dead reliable. replaced one clutch, one radiator, and maybe 3 or 4 alternators. still had original shocks and struts. i would still own it but i just don't have room for 5 cars in my 3 car garage.

Love your progress on the Ferrari However just seeing that BMW E30 triggered my PTSD from loosing mine in 2017. I worked for 2 years on a 1988 325is and I never got to even finish installing all the upgrades I bought. I had it on the road only a couple weeks before a moron ran a red light causing an accident. My E30 was totally fixable but the insurance company screwed me. They claim to have written it off, but I have reason to think otherwise. That's to long a story to get into. I loved that car. I grew up riding in it as a kid years before I owned it myself.

When we were running late models, all the excited newbies would spend tons of money for fancy paint and AN fittings. However, in short track racing, fancy paint jobs and other expensive stuff usually lasts only a few laps. Good old radiator hoses and hose clamps allow you to make fast repairs on the spot while the guys with the AN fittings end up on the trailer. A potential issue with your lines running front to back is air in the system. If those hoses don't lay level and have a slight hump, you will have an air bubble that you can't get rid of.

Luckily, most of us have move beyond the Flat Earth Society and know how to tilt the car or the system to bleed if necessary. Not sure that will be required on a pump-pressurized system, but BTDT on juice brakes and clutches. Better to have a bleed, but not impossible without it, either.

Please think again if you don't want to install a thermostat. A lot of people drive without one, but from a technical point of view it's not an optimal solution. Without a thermostat you will see very low cooling water volume flow in the - anyway thermally critical - warm-up phase. This leads to a high temperature delta between the motor inlet and outlet. The problem also occurs at part load, especially in the case of powerful engines with a correspondingly powerful cooling system. It is not for nothing that OEMs generally install (sometimes even heated) thermostats in conjunction with electric water pumps (e.g. BMW). You could install a very simple, small cooling water circuit as a thermostat-controlled bypass. That shouldn't be a problem with the package and solve the critical issue. Greetings from Germany Dominik

Awesome work on those aluminum welds! They look awesome and I'd be more than happy to show off those aluminum TIG skillz :) As for the E30 the 'eta' cars get a lot of hate but I personally like them much better than the 'i' . I've had 4 E30's in period (first one back in 95) both eta and 'is' models. My previous 1987 Bronzit Beige 325e is still one of the best cars I ever owned and there are lots of great memories from my E30 days. Great buy on the white one and the story behind it makes it even better.

Also plz pressure test that intercooler above the pressure you will be running. Pulsing isn't the best idea for a strong weld on end tanks tbh . You wanna run it hot for penetration and good amount of filler for strength 💪 try to regulate the puddle with your foot pedal and maintain your melted puddle edge as you move. You're getting better now time for the next level of your aluminum welding

The build is really coming along, and things are looking good! One thought on the coolant block off plate on the head... might have been a good idea to drill and tap the plate for a fitting to bleed the system there? Wondering if it's possible it could get an air pocket stuck there in the head since it's not circulating coolant now? Anyway, keep up the good work! This is a very interesting build.
