Thank you so much for making this video! Helped a bunch. I have a question if you don't mind. I have a VF750F. I'm considering taking the cams and the rocker arms out to get them reground and get rid of the wear problems on these components. There's very little info on taking the rocker arms out as opposed to the cams. Do you think it would be possible to remove the rockers from the top of the engine? I'm praying its possible and I don't have to remove the head to get to them. Tried to see how it would be possible from your video and couldn't really make it out. Keep it up! Thanks :)
@Adikxx2 жыл бұрын
Hi bud. I'm glad that the video was helpful. I've been told by many VF1000 owners that to remove the rockers engine needs to come out. Once it's out rockers will come out fine without remowing the heads.

I was very intrigued with your video as I have to change the cam chain in my 84 VF1000f. I'm having trouble finding the chain and wondering if you could share the brand or part number. How do you feel about reliability? Some have said that you absolutely need to use a genuine chain and the one with a master link will fail.
@Adikxx2 жыл бұрын
I used Tourmax chains and replaced both. Factory chains failed at 70.000 km so i'm not impressed with their reliability. If you don't want to use riveted chains than you need to remove the engine,then take it all apart to remove the crank to be able to replace endless chains. I wasn't prepared to do all that as i was drowning in work building another Suzuki engine. Way too much work for one man.

Hi, my 83 Magna v45 cam chain slapping loud during cold start but goes away after warmed up. What was the reason you chain out the chain? In the Honda magna forum, a senior member by the name of AndyMagna from Canada has a mod where you weld now anchor point for the tensioner so you wouldn't have to replace the cam chain ($99 in US). What do you think? Would this help or chain out the whole chain like your video? Thanks

Yes it was the same with my bike. It was knocking from cold start and got slightly better when warm. Replacing the chain and tensioner's spring is the cure.

@Adikxx9 ай бұрын
Hi i pasted a link to open cam chain under your other comment. Unfortunately springs for tensioners are not available anymore. tensioners don't wear out and will be fine, it's just the springs inside it that need to be replaced but as i said springs are all sold out now at Honda's dealerships so maybe you'll find it somewhere on the internet, part number is - 14514MB6003. Most important is the new chain, if you replace that it will already be a lot better.
