Great video I've had my Honda X4 14 years now I will never sell her. The speed limiter has been removed from mine . I still love the way the bike looks and it's great having such a rare bike..I'm from Scotland and in 2006 I went to the big X 4 rally in Lunen Germany they are cult bikes over there. I also own a Yamaha V Max and a Moto Guzzi Griso SE .

Hi Boomerhgt, I'm living in Spain and I'm thinking of buying a second hand one in Belgium from a friend. But I wonder how you managed to remove the speed limiter. Is it costly? Difficult? Kind regards, Adrian.

zzzpip Hi sorry just noticed your comment yes still have my X4 that's 17 years now..you can replace Ecu with a Honda Blackbird one or a simple rewire to bypass limiter

I've had one for 11 years, and it's a minter. Does handle...right up 'til you ground the footpegs (which isn't that far over) But it WILL go around corners, with a fair bit of input at the bars. Brilliant engine. It only has 12K on it, and I've only had it up to 100 mph. But I've never heard of the limiter on it. The guy from whom I bough tit, said he'd had 140 out of it but he's a motorcycle mechanic, and may have knobbled the 'limiter'

I've had one for ten years now, lovely bike but as I also have a Vmax1200 I've just sold it. The limiter is on the speedo and a Posh Firm Red Box opens the bike up to it's full potential, which is 150mph and also reads mph instead of kph. I have a spare one if anyones interested (Red Box that is) just plugs in and away you go. X4 handles a little better than the Vmax, doesn't have the same brutal acceleration but goes like shit off a shovel nonetheless and looks great. Low seat for the vertically challenged or female rider wanting a big bike and no one seems to know what it is and always draws a crowd at bike meets, pisses off the Harley boys no end which is a good thing in itself.

Over the past 16 years my brother has owned 2 of these beasts. He sold his first one back in the early 2000's and instantly regretted selling it. He found another just 2 years ago in mint condition, its big, black and has a kind of charisma about it. His is also calibrated in KPH and I read on Google, these bikes were intended for the Japanese market originally, and that is why they are pretty rare over here in Europe. Incidently, what is that red box you were talking about that converts the bike to MPH?
@vmax4steve5245 жыл бұрын
@@garydunn3037 It's an electronic box from Posh Firm that plugs in to the loom so the bike is no longer limited to 100 mph (which is japanese law) and the kph speedo reading is actually mph, so when it reads 60 kph you're doing 60 mph. Let me know if you're interested in buying it and I'll list it on ebay for you. I won't put my email address on youtube.

@@vmax4steve524 Thanks, I'll pass the info on to my brother. I don't see him too often, but when I do. I'll tell him to look out for it on E-Bay.

My brother has one of these laid up in his garage for over 3 years. The problem was, it developed a leak fro the petrol tap, and as this bike does not have a centre stand, it was left leaning to the left, which did not help. The upshot is, he removed the carbs, but in order to do this, he had to cut through the two centre carb boots to remove them. Now, we are having problems trying to locate new carb centre boots. Does anyone know a company who can supply them. As this was a bike made exclusively for the Japanese market.

The CB 1300 was Carbureted until 2001 I believe. I think it ran, starting from the mid 90s, so that could give you more possibilities if you haven't already thought about that.
