Bring back immobilizer keys, mechanical hand brakes, naturally aspirated engines, geared transmissions, transmission dipsticks NOWWWWWWW.

I feel you on most of these. But I love my key-fob lol. And geared transmissions are still a thing if you buy certain makes/models. The anything with the 2.0L turbo or J-series V6 all come with a 9/10-speed transmission. And some Honda/Acura transmissions may still have a dipstick.
@BCautosolutions10 сағат бұрын
@@hitbyGROSJEAN I like key fobs but hate how easy it has made it for thieves. There’s still plenty of geared transmissions. I like turbo engines on the sportier high end models but the average car should have naturally aspirated engines which some still do.

Number one is auto stop/start. Thank God you can shut it off but why can't you PERMANENTLY shut it off through the vehicle software? Every time I start my Acura Integra you have to push a button to disable it. It's ridiculous.

Now with 2025 Odyssey refresh, all Hondas and Acuras have all-physical HVAC controls. This is how the right mix should be done, not a small second touch panel like what you find in the latest Korean cars. The last bunch of buttons Honda needs to put back are steering wheel mounted answer/hang-up phone buttons. I wouldn’t mind if those buttons are poorly integrated (as found on the 9th gen Civic)

I agree with every one of your points. Huds are cool in fighter jets, not commuter cars 😂 two things i would add are: 1. the pedal dance required to turn certain features or settings on/off completely (im looking at you, Traction control system). Give me a physical button that actually does what i need it to do. And 2: electronic parking/emergency brake. I live in northern Ohio, and sometimes in the winter, you need that manual e brake to save your ass when theres 6-10 inches of snow on the ground. Hopefully, i dont have to try to flip that little lever on and off real quick in one of those situations this winter

I don’t think a HUD would be distracting. Unless you need to squint to see it, you don’t need to take your eyes off the road. I just don’t think it’s the most necessary feature. I loved speedometer of the 2008 civic I drove and I wouldn’t say it’s too dissimilar. It’s above the cluster, much closer your point of focus, the road. Lane departure is turned off with blinkers. I turn it off but it’s not hard to keep it from constantly annoying you.

All good points. Some of your pseudo rant made me chuckle. Sun roofs - why can't they offer features without also having to add weight and take away headroom. Same goes for fake leather seats - good quality cloth seats are better in the heat and in the cold and should be an option on higher models. There's also the huge rims on the higher models. Because when you're baller you want your spine constantly jarred.

Similar to baking too many controls into the touchscreen, capacitive panels suck too. Good thing Honda got rid of that when they redesigned the HRV and put back the volume knob, but my main concern is that Nissan and Infiniti are now adopting this trend, and Honda is expected to partner with Nissan and Mitsubishi.

@@BCautosolutions personally, I hope they do, so Honda can put hard buttons back into Nissans, and supply Nissan with better CVTs, 10ATs, and hybrid powertrains. Honda’s hybrids are basically Nissan hybrids that handle highway speeds better, and they are even more similar to Mitsubishi hybrids. Nissan’s bigger crossovers have the questionable ZF9, which Honda previously had trouble with and replaced with 10AT.

Speaking big without really knowing: Start/stop is NOT that hard on the starter or the battery in modern engines that can play with valve timing to reduce compression during startup!
