That's honestly a good choice for me, i think of it as a good balance between the concepts of nct u nct 127 & nct dream, i can't imagine them wearing cool or revealing outfits since they're minors that time.

actually, dream was supposed to be the first unit to debut or was supposed to debut before 127 i believe, but was postponed days before the mv release because lee sooman felt like there was something missing, and then he decided to add the hoverboard to the choreo. they had to learn new choreo from scratch plus learning how to ride the boards. the members even said that they were really nervous and doubted if they were even gonna go through with their debut, being afraid not being able to debut with each other, whom they thought of each other as brothers. it’s really sad how they went through all that stress and anxiety at such a young age (mark being the oldest at 17 and jisung being the youngest at 14) but the dreamies and the fans know that it was all their handwork and trust in each other that got them through it. and i feel like thats why their debut holds such a place and holds a lot of nostalgia and memories in the fandom. bonus: Chewing gum was actually supposed to be for Red Velvet and Russian Roulette was supposed to be the dreamies debut!! and JOY’s bias is chenle since his debut (as well as mark lmao) !! the velvets and the neos have a very close friendship since they had the same training period and often hung out w each other!

Jisung was kid variety super star and kdrama actor, Chenle movie star and child prodigy, Jeno was actor and cf star, Jaemin as ice figure athlete (cmiiw), Renjun act too, Haechan in choir, and Mark was a Top SM trainee. They have the entertainer background.

Fun story: the hoverboard thing wasn't supposed to be there, from what i remember they were about to debut before nct 127 and then it got canceled im not sure if it was just because they wanted to add the idea of the hoverboard or there is more, anyways they said that they had to film everything all again because of that and finally debut with the legendary hoverboards in August

I will say, though they were young at the time (ages 14-17 years old) they intentionally dressed them younger so they looked probably closer to 12-14 years old. Like, if you looked at Mark and Haechan with NCT127 during Firetruck (and Mark during 7th Sense with NCT U), which was only a month earlier, they didn't look THAT young. Clothing and styling definitely had a huge play in making them look very boyish. Which, I think at that age, they played off very well and they sold the song and concept.

Fun Fact: They were supposed to be the first one to debut out of all the units in NCT. But, SM decided to include hoverboards in their performance so they had to re-shoot the MV, practice with hoverboads, and so on that's why their debut was delayed.

NCT Dream really remind me of Shinee. NCT Dream debut with 14 y/o maknae and 17 y/o oldest. SHINee debut with 14 y/o maknae and 18 y/o oldest. Their debut song, Reply and Chewing gum/MFAL are about their first love for noona 😂 They have the strong 'boyish' image and loved by people of South Korea. We call them our son 😭 And SHINee move on from that image when they are all join millitary. SHINee keep that image for years 😂 And NCT Dream will have that image too until they are 30 y/o 😂

Yup, chewing gum is their debut song which could make Nct Dream the first group to debut in NCT, bcoz initially there were not included the hoverboard in the choreo. But, just before their actual debut date that lee soo man suggested the idea to make it more special and attractive. Plus, once again need to mention that all the boys in the video had an average age of 15.6 years during their debut with the maknae(youngest) Jisung was 14 years old (Korean age). And yeah, mainly Nct Dream were an icon for Fresh and Youth concept that suitable for their teenage age group but as they became a permanent unit and had more variety songs/concepts to show their growth over the years. Btw, I also love how both Nct Dream and Red Velvet members were very much similar in vibes, energy or synergy as a group. From their angelic vocal, over the top humour & chaotic, strong sister/brotherhood and how kind or as natural as possible their attitude is even in front of the cameras.

You know what? I'm actually very glad that this song exists because this built the very foundation for the DREAMies' concept as a group. DREAM doesn't need any concept because they themselves are the concept. Their youth is the concept. I don't think no older fans of them can ever think of them as anything but young adorable children. I know I can't. And over the years, their music sure has matured as they have grown too but in NCTzens' minds, they're still kids. And I thank Chewing gum for that.

I think it’s a great song for a debut, it suits them perfectly, they were basically kids yet fyi: Mark made his debut in NCT U first with “The 7th Sense” in April 2016, then in a few months in July in NCT 127 with “Fire Truck”, and then in August in NCT Dream with “Chewing Gum”. I’m still amazed by this fact. every song had different concept and yet he nailed it. I hope you will check out other nct’s debut songs in the future c:

I don't know if you've checked before, but if you haven't, now you should check the hello future repackage album song by song as you did with nct 127.Its an amazing album. I love dream songs. Their B-sides are so great. I listened to their entire discography and liked all of their songs. Very strange. I didnt like the idea of their debut. Because they looked so young and small (in fact I was the same age as Mark) But now I'm glad they debuted. They have a very good chemistry, their voices are very different but very harmonious, not to mention their choreograpies... Also they have a live clip for life is still going on and anl. Its so good. I think you should make a reaction video for this video too😊☺️
