Honest Review: Fulltone Supa-Trem2 v2

Scott at Fulltone emailed me to clarify how they designate as item as a blemish. He wrote: "Just want to let you know our blems are actually “Cosmetic blemishes “ only, it’s often a little silk screen error or tiny scratch we did while handling it. It is not the pots or anything internal or functional. Our pots are custom made for us and they have different stiffness or feel to them as per what we want a pot to feel like for that particular function, these can vary due to the internal lubricant or grease that gives them their stiffness by the manufacturing process a little, that can also change if it’s cleaned with pot cleaner as it will remove some of the grease. So you know our blems are cosmetic blemished only, even if it’s impossible to locate at first it’s hiding on there somewhere."

Stupid question, but how do you get 1 guitar cable into 2 inputs (left/right) for the stereo effect?

Not a stupid question at all. I've done it a couple ways personally. 1) You can get an effect pedal that naturally has mono-in/sterero-out. For example, I have a Maxon CS-550 that I use to split my signal for going into two amps. 2) If you don't want to tie your signal splitting to a specific effect, and if you want the highest quality buffering, you'll want to get a dedicated splitter or amp switcher. Gigrig makes both, where you can pick up a Humdinger if all you need is a split (but you don't need to switch between amps), or an Aby Baby to have amp splitting that also allows you to select the amp.

Hi, question about the Supa-Trem2 - Will it still autopan between two/stereo inputs if it is outputting in mono? I have a setup where two inputs going into an EHX Super Pulsar and it switches back and forth between them really fast but downmixes to a mono output, creating an arpeggio effect. It works, but every them the pedal is powered on, it reverts to bypass mode which is a bit annoying. I'm wondering if this pedal would also do the job. Thanks!

I think I may have found the answer to my question. It looks like I would need to run the outputs to a mono summing box and make sure there aren't any stereo effects upstream that would cancel themselves out. Cheers!

Yes, you would need a summing box to take the stereo outs and mix them back to mono.

Hi @notbadfilms How and when do you split the signal in the path chain to enter each line in of the stereo tremolo (left and right) with a different loop effect? My case a Shapeshifter. Thank you!

My rig changes all the time, but for a long time the first effect in my path was a Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus (the 18v stereo version) and I used that on a subtle setting to split my chain into stereo at the start. I was then running different drives for each channel until everything rejoined at the Supa-Trem2 v2.

I'm not sure what option I am going to choose: Dual mono (A/B/Y box or volume pedal with split function) True stereo (modulation effect) I REALLY love the sound of the Univibe combined with the tremolo (6:22)

@notbadfilms if you turn the Mix knob all the way down can you get the Stereo Pan without the Tremelo or is it possible only to get the Panning without the Tremelo in a setting?

I will continue to buy from Fulltone. I have an old OCD and a Tube Tape Echo that I enjoy. It seems to me that he was attempting to stand up for the small businesses that were getting looted and destroyed during the riot. I do not condone any of these actions. It is unlawful and immoral to act out in violence and steal. Period. Mike came off like a dick during his post. Nothing racist. Just an asshole that spouted off angrily. It sucks he did it that way. And I think his apology is bullshit. As a philosophy, I fully support the idea of creating a culture of black lives feeling like they matter. It is a discussion that needs to be aired out. But I do not support the BLM organization. Co-founder Patrisse Cullors said that she and her partner, Alicia Garza, are trained Marxists. That comment is severe. It must not be taken lightly. If any progress is to be made peacefully, the slogan must be separated from the organization. For the sake of this country and for the sake of all black lives to feel truly equal.

Thanks for this update. My quest to find a tremolo pedal had been whittled down to either a Supa-Trem, Diamond or Demeter but due to your update I won't be considering the Supa-Trem (or indeed any Fulltone products in the future). As you say, Black Lives Matter.
