I don’t remember when Gacy was an active murderer, but I think everyone understood that Joker from DC Comics had nothing to do with people being afraid of all clowns, joker was a comic book villain that fell in a vat of acid and got deformed so bad that his face and skin was extremely pale and he can’t stop smiling (Red Hood Storyline I Know) but the main point was yeah clowns never really scared me either

Clowns became scary to me as a kid going to small traveling circuses and fairs, followed by the movie Poltergeist so by the time we got the IT TV special in 1990, I was already in clown NOPE mode. Edit: I laughed at the "John Boy Walton" being lumped in with "These Guys." I knew who he was, but I thought it was hilarious.

They're not really thinking that hard. Like pretty much all vaguely popular shows that made it to 100 episodes, The Waltons was on in syndication in the U.S. until the end of the 90s. Also, pretty much every adult cast member in the movie was a pretty big star. Aside from John Boy, Dennis Christopher starred in the Oscar-winning Breaking Away and Richard Masur was seemingly in everything in the 70s and 80s as a fairly memorable character actor. Olivia Hussey was even in there.

I'm Dan's age, and didn't even see much of it as a kid, but enough of the cartoons and sitcoms references happened as a kid that "Good night John-Boy" seemed obvious to me. The biggest part of it that's held over in pop culture at all, if you've ever seen a show or movie do a bit where they have every member of a family say goodnight to each other member at bed time (from an exterior shot of the house), that's basically a parody of the most enduring Walton's element. I'm sure Family Guy's done that joke at some point.

I think the scariest clown, was the clown doll in Poltergeist. That thing was creepy. Oh, and, "good night, John Boy," was a thing in pop culture loong after the series, so that and reruns are how people know The Waltons. I mean, it was cable, there were tons of channels with many hours to fill, so something that was long, and family friendly, was going to be put in rotation for a while.

I get the feeling you guys forgot how syndication worked in the 80s and early 90s. Not just weekends on major network TV, but also every night on Nickelodeon, and a ton of other cable shows were filled with reruns of TV shows. I was born in '79 and grew up with Bewitched, Jeannie, Green Acres, Mr. Ed, Star Trek, All in the Family, Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, The Monkees, Gilligan's Island, The Love Boat, Buck Rogers, The Muppet Show... This happened with almost every show that was even a modest success that had more than 2 or 3 seasons until the Late-Aughts when people started abandoning Broadcast TV and Netflix started signing streaming deals for them all. I'm also slightly miffed still that you snubbed a 5(?) year-old Chelann Simmons.

I can answer that favorite Pennywise question without any hesitation or conscious thought, Tim Curry hands down for me. I felt Scarsguard's Pennywise was serviceable. However, for me I thought he looked & acted too over the top frightening the whole time. I would say the makeup was too restricting. I felt Tim Curry's makeup & mannerisms allowed him to be Funny & Scary in a way that Scarsguard could just never do as Pennywise

There should have been a reference to Buffy the Vampire Slayer on the clip where Seth Green's character Ritchie is attacked by a 'werewolf' and he played the werewolf Oz on Buffy for three seasons on Buffy (and one episode of Angel).

Please do an Honest Trailer for 1998’s “Dark City” starring Rufus Sewell, Jennifer Connelly, and Kiefer Sutherland. It’s a cult classic and a precursor to “The Matrix”.

Another bad movie where Tim Curry is the best thing-1980's "Times Square" where he was Johnny LaGuardia-a radio DJ who becomes the voice for 2 teenage runaways(Robin Johnson and Trini Alvarado). I love the soundtrack to the movie especially Patti Smith's "Pissing In A River". And you didn't mention Dennis Christopher(Eddie)-star of Breaking Away and Fade To Black-he even appeared in an episode of "Seaquest 2032". Where im from the line up on deji vu every day is little house, waltons, and Murdock mysteries. so I know the Waltons very well. (24yrs old), its a fantastic show

Waltons are a vague memory to me from that one time when I was ill back in the early 80s and that was what my parents were watching while I lay on their bed with a very high fever. That is my whole experience with the show.
