I've been thinking of how they could have done a Jurassic Park film where the islands were declared nature reserves, and your human cast would be reserve guards and poachers. Black markets exists for real animals, so it's not a stretch to assume the same would occur with dinosaurs. The Black Mamba patrols in Greater Kruger national park and their attempt to combat poaching are a huge inspiration for this.

I completely agree with Dan about what made the 1st one so good was because the Dinosaurs were actually a THREAT. Like, just think about how the Raptors get introduced in the film. They don't even show us them, but we get an inkling of just how DANGEROUS and SMART they are by how they tear into that cow who gets lowered into the cage. Everything else is left to our own interpretation. That's one of the big problems I have with the newer films, the humans are both stupid and the antagonists in the story, and they managed to domesticate one of the most bad-ass dinosaurs in movie history, the Raptors (blue) and the main T-Rex.

I haven't fact checked this, but if memory serves, the paleontology community hadn't acknowledged or confirmed spinosaurus as having existed during the first two movies, but around the time of JP3 there had been new discoveries that made the spino the 'It' dino of the day
