I've read the comics dude the TV show is toning it down and I know I'm going to get the Nerd rage but I think that TV show is doing it better in tone and story than the comics did there are points in the comic where things were done that felt like they were done just to be edgy and shocking which sort of took the edge off some more important sections of the story. I am really looking forward to see were they are going with the show

To be fair it did release all at once for season 1. So it is a shift and you know no one likes change. My bigger problem with the release is it doesn't feel like this show was made or cut for a weekly release. The story is moving very slow and each episode is not very satisfying. The first 3 were all set up so no wonder they dropped them all at once.

I haven't read the comics but regarding your convo about what The Boys are and their relation to the government, I took it as they're sorta like PMCs of sorts. I think Billy was former British Intelligence, and Mallory -- a CIA director or whatever at the time -- wanted to take down Vought but had her hands-tied so she found the Homelander/Becca footage then convinced Billy to help her. And MM and Frenchie are either Billy's or Mallory's original contacts and were asked/paid to help. Things went bad for Mallory, they disbanded and went their separate ways, and now they grouped back together as straight-up vigilantes.

Anyone else see the show "Powers" on Playstation Plus back in 2015-16? It got cancelled after 2 seasons (but continues in the Graphic Novel) but I thought it did a really good job portraying how Superheroes would become corrupted and commodified in the real world.

Not to be the "but in the graphic novel guy," but the conversation about why are The Boys a unit (about 14min mark) has a great, easily put on film origin. They also have a reason as to why they can legitimately go against the Seven.

Seeing as it was mentioned, I generally do make sure i've seen stuff prior to the honest trailer - i feel i'd be spoiling it for myself otherwise. With movies its easy - as i've ordinarily seen them all prior to the HT anyway, but when its a series - especially a currently airing one, this is one where i've not watched the show - not sure if I will either, I get the idea / jokes / themes etc - but TV takes far too many hours for my liking. I'd rather watch the HT than the show in this case in all honesty.

In certain films/shows there’s certain small lines that change the whole perspective for me. In Bright it was the Mexican cop saying he still gets flank for the Alamo. In this, Hughes says to Starlight “I thought you were just a normal girl, but wow, you’re like Beyoncé”... this leads me to believe that in this universe Beyoncé is the most powerful supe, and feared amongst the whole community

In the comics it's little different: the boys is finance by CIA off the books to track superheroes that broke the law and are never take to court to answer for their crimes. Spoiler maybe: In the comics the use comp V to have super powers for temporary time

Honestly I enjoy the show much more then I do the comics. I like the comics but a lot of it just feels like how edgy can we go just for the hell of it. And that it feels more like a vehicle just for Ennis to show how much he hates all Super Hero comics. Like I can't recall to many of the Supes in the comics having any depth to them most all of them were as evil as it gets while also being extremely incompetent at everything. Take A-Train for example where in the series he actually has layers to his character. Even if they have done terrible things you can still sympathize with them at times. In the comics you have shit like Ennis just wanting to bash on say the X-Men so he makes his own version of them but this teams version of Xavier is a pedophile who rapes all of the children inside his mansion while also getting all of the older members of the team who he raped in the past to also get involved in raping the younger members. So to me the comic has it's moments and interesting plot points and is still enjoyable. But it just lacks character growth development depth and is way to focused on just bashing the idea of super hero comics. Ennis is to blind in his hatred of Supes to elevate the comic to the level that the series does.

As fantastic as this show is. It has one problem, it doesn’t do a good job as showing what “The Boys” are supposed to be. In the comics, they literally do keep Supes in line, and kill them if they don’t. In the show however, we don’t see much of that. All we saw is them killing Translucent in self defense, and Mesmer out of pure rage. Still a great show though

I’ve just started watching The Boys, and I’ve noticed that the show is NOT sex-positive. It is downright NEGATORY for pretty much all sexual encounters. They started with the “laying cable” comment eliciting a “that’s not right” response, and are keeping the pace escalating with overtly sexual scenes that go from “that’s not right” to “oh dear Jebus” to WTF to “vomit in my mouth” (that incestuous Oedipal thing, **shivers**) Now, that’s where I go emotionally and reaction wise, but then I wonder is that what they intended to elicit? Or are they out to desensitize the audience? How far will the depravity go? I’m not sure. But wow. Will keep watching.

If WB or Marvel releases a a blank image, 90% of people watching these channels and their audience will obsess what is it about, so they really have no ground to stand on when they criticize this show on being hypocritical.
