How to make a dog killer sympathetic, according to Disney: 1: Dalmatians killed her mother 2: She doesn't kill dogs in this movie 3: She doesn't even dislike dogs 4: Actually just make her a different character altogether Nice one, guys. Another slam dunk.

well, I guess we are suppose to think of it like an alternative universe kindda thing, This Cruella is totally not the 101 Cruella (it even end with she owning some dalmatians) so if your kids ask "Why Cruella is so mean in the other movie" you can just tell them they are not the same person lol

@@Psy_Ro but it didn’t? It just kicked the inexplicably evil villain trope up to Emma Thompson, and the plucky underdog trope to Emma Stone. Then fiddled with names and continuity. Its the same story. Its literally a way to use a recognizable IP for the box office, without actually using it meaningfully in the story,

Fun fact: in the original novel (yes, there was a book before the first cartoon film, it was written by Dodie Smith in the 1950s), it was very clearly established that Cruella's birth name was, in fact, Cruella De Vil, and that she came from a long line of De Vils. Honestly, I really like the Cruella film. It was enjoyable and one of my favorites. That is if you detach it from the original movie. Don't get me wrong, 101 Dalmatians is a classic. But Cruella deVil is not a character that should be redeemed. The character in the movie felt entirely different from the puppy skinner in the original movie. It doesn't give cruella any reason to hurt Dalmatians and I feel sorry that Estelle had to turn into Cruella because it makes the film seem so much sillier. It tries to redeem Cruella, but it comes up with the most basic way of doing it. If Cruella had a differently named protagonist, who turned into a different character, it could have turned out so much better than what it is. Because being connected to the original makes the plot kind of fall apart.

Does every villain need a cliched, "sympathetic" origin story? Like, they took Maleficent- the only Disney villain so evil she summoned the "demons of Hell" - and made her wishy washy while pissing all over the good fairies (the main heroes of the original). Now they've done the same thing with Cruella... stop. Just stop.

I mean this comment makes no sense. Cz Maleficent was not exactly a villian in the movie. You are mixing the character from the book and the movie. The character in the movie is completely different. She is more of an anti-Hero than a villian while in the books or the fairly tales, she was a complete villian.
@sbird8675
@sbird8675 2 жыл бұрын
@@DrDiabolical000 I am not mixing up the book and the movie. I am comparing the original animated Disney classic film with the live action film. In the original animated movie, Maleficent was a baby killing villain. She did not have a single sympathetic element to her character- and that was what made her great! The live action version completely changed what was once one of Disney's most fearsome villains, while vilifying most of the heroes. It's frustrating for fans of the classic Disney films.

Because dalmatians killed her mom. Sounds stupid? It's actually her real mom that ordered the dogs to kill. *Now who's stupid?* *They're low key roasting everyone who assumed the scene would make her hate dalmatians🤣*

Nope, they are roasting the writing because it was beyond dumb, also it makes the scene pointless which is honestly worse.

@@shayla106 the scene wasn’t pointless because besides tying into 101 Dalmatians it showed dogs could be tools for evil.

4:45 I love the reference to another KZbin Channel; Viva La Dirt League, and their 'Epic NPC Man' skits.
