It's funny how people love the F&F franchise for being straightforward dumbed-down action flicks, but they hate Transformers for the same reasons.

Benjamin Abramowitz It's mostly because of the characters, you can pretty easily connect with the family in the F&F universe but the characters in Transformers aren't as sympathetic. Also most of the damn robots all look the same making it hard to root for anyone when you have no clue what is happening. Not all "straight-up, dumbed-down action flicks" are created equal.

the fight between Vin and Dwayne was actually the best part of the movie, imo. Really good. I think Vin is actually a very passable action hero. I can think of very few characters that could bring down Riddick, who's like Hannibal Lecter and Conan the Barbarian rolled into one
