The reason they used more unknown video game characters and original characters as the main characters in the movie was to keep it from being a Mario, sonic, or pac-man movie. They did this to make sure the movie was about arcade games and not the popular characters everyone knows about.

Since you touched this, i really think that to Wreck it Ralph be complete is a "journey of a hero" in a old way for new children, he should have died sacrificing himself to create the volcanon flare that stopped the bugs in the end. It would taught a lot about taking responsability for your actions and self-sacrifice, two main aspectcs of heroism. In the end it would be the perfect metaphor. But hen they would not have a char for a sequel, but if they did that i would rate WreckitRalph 11 of 10. As it is i rate it 9 of 10 for being incredible fun, interesting, well paced, but still lacking the courage to be really amazing.

How is she GamerGate's worst nightmare? She's everything they want. A strong female character who isn't just written in for the sake of a quota and she has depth. She isn't someone there because some contrived agenda is being pushed. Same goes for Vanellope the story is very fitting for them. I don't think you actually know what GG is outside of what people are telling you to think what it is.

Their arch rivals (Sarkeesian, feminists in general) got their way. A properly dressed, properly developed female character at the centre of a game, capable and not designed to pander to presumed straight male players. Everything GamerGate has been screaming about.

kuro68000 Calhoun isn't at the center of the "game" she's one of the main characters in a movie. Same as Vanellope. Also No That's not what GG is supposed to be about. It's about standing up to the narrative that games are inherently racist or sexist to the point where they have to be pushed to be more mature in the sense of leaving behind "childish things". When in reality you should not try to control a form of media to this extent and allow creators to make what they will. Contrived agenda pushing and censorship and unethical acts in promoting games and corruption in the game industry and journalism industry is another facet of it. Only a small part is about having what we have here with Calhoun and having "improperly dressed" characters (to borrow some of your language) are defended because they should be allowed as well. And in many cases they both are allowed, but at times things are censored or heavily discouraged and shamed publicly in certain media for going outside of these lines. It's about being able to do what you want with your creative freedom. If you want to have sexy characters it's within your right to do so. IF you want to have very competent and well armed characters it is within your right to do so. You can even do a mixture of both if you try. One of the reasons It opposes Anita, (Who actually has very little to do with GG.) is that she is very incorrect in her points. She makes false accusations to push an agenda. Her and those allied with her are more in the business of piggybacking on industries for profit while pushing their ideals, and they back up their points with incorrect assumptions falsehoods presented as facts and narrow views.

I love this movie so much. I waited so long for there to be a movie with an original video game character but meets famous game characters. The emotions and characters are so well done. I hope there isn't a sequel because I love it just the way it is. I can't believe this movie didn't get the Oscar because it deserves it.
