Today I decided to make another user request- Jack's infamous "Garbage Stew." This one was more challenging than I thought it would be.
Thanks everyone for watching and for your great comments!
Music used is from Final Fantasy Tactics.

This is somehow sadder to watch than Jack’s version. All those ingredients looked fresh and delicious on their own, and they had to be subjected into a witch’s cauldron. Jack is either batshit insane or one KZbin’s greatest trolls. There’s no way anyone could just dump all those things into a crockpot and think they were getting something good.

I like the idea of using your near expired food, can't stand food waste myself, but I don't know if I'd just chuck it all in a pot and pray for the best. There's gotta be better ways.
@lucretialee3691
@lucretialee3691 Жыл бұрын
There are better ways. I grew up on a lot of homemade veg soups, and a dish called Scouse, which was made of leftover root veg and some cubed up meat (beef, lamb or mutton). Where Jack's garbage stew goes wrong is putting pickled and tined food in and adding the beer. Another good way of using up any cooked meat is to dice it finely, add it to some boiled potatoes then mash up the potatoes like you usually would. Pop under the grill for a reheat and crust, and you can eat it as either a side dish or a main one.

@@lucretialee3691 I always have some sort of dried beans around, lentils, split peas, northern great whites, kidneys, all sorts. They're good for making nice soups with leftover meats and veggies. Another thing you could try is mash your potatoes and add some meat, a bit of flour and fry them into little fritters. They're pretty awesome.
@lucretialee3691
@lucretialee3691 Жыл бұрын
@@IronArmPanda Yes me too, plus rice and pearl barley if I can get it. I also make sure to have plenty of different types of stock cubes too, the veg stock cubes are great to add to rice when cooking it. Sound like the potato cakes I make, only I mix in an egg instead of the meat. They taste great grilled then buttered, or used instead of bread to make toasted sandwiches.

Yeah you've definitely got to pay attention to what you're throwing together. Avoiding waste is fantastic, but if you make this, now you've wasted but just the food but the time and electricity to cook it. Mind you, I've got no problem throwing some beef I need to use in a pot with just about whatever veggies are in the fridge/freezer or some canned stuff.

This kind of reminds me of the days of living off of "trash casserole". We didn't have much food in the house during a period after my parents got divorced and what we did have wasn't enough to make a meal out of, so I invented something just to have something to eat where I threw whatever ground meat was in the freezer into a pan with whatever noodles and frozen vegetables we had. At the time I didn't really season it with anything other than pepper because we didn't have those in the house either. We were so hungry that we didn't notice how really bland it was, but at least even then I made something far more edible than this.

Hey! I have a great suggestion for the camera situation. I’m a professional photographer and I often times get in a situation where I don’t have a camera with me but I have my phone camera with me. Oddly enough I usually keep a small tripod for my phone with me at all times or somewhere where I can get it quickly. It has a Bluetooth adapter with a button on it where you can access your phone without touching it. I believe you can buy it off Amazon. It was less than 20 bucks last I checked. It’s swivels around pretty easily and you can get some pretty cool videos/pictures using it. If you ever get around to looking for one, I highly suggest, something like that for future reference!

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually do have a tripod as well. The one-handed thing is intentional as a sort of nod to Masao and also solidarity with Jack (retroactively, lol). But I guess if enough people want it, maybe I'll try to do a video like that at some point.

Maybe replacing sweet potatoes with regular taters, pickled jalapenos with ground up dried ones, beer with just water (smaller amount and some butter added), omitting the lime, and using some proper seasoning could make it not as bad?
