As someone that lives here and unknowingly participated in this video (bar staff), I can 100% assure you this is not the roughest town in Scotland and that the small snippet you've shown here does absolutely zero justice to it... It's also actually a really good place for a night out with the guidance of a local, which any person you passed in the street or in the pub would've been willing to help with. Very friendly place and a hell of a lot nicer than portrayed here :)

As a Scot who has travelled the world, it’s important to point out that there’s a difference between ‘rough’ and ‘dangerous’. Yes, there are lots of ‘rough’ places in Scotland, mostly the outer schemes of the major cities, but this doesn’t automatically make them ‘dangerous’.

@@honestplaces As many others said, the very busy ferries, which Stranraer served for more than 150 years all moved out. You look clueless and are clueless; not even talking to anyone, not knowing where you were and whether Ayr is North or South (hardly a difficult thing for almost anyone, even if you have never been in Scotland before)! All of the UK (except for the super rich, who can exit anytime), is in catastrophic, inevitable, permanent freefall. Welcome to UKstan.

Unfortunately it just isn't rough. Spent a load of time there working on the Ports and it's just full of great people and great pubs

Whoever told you that it’s the roughest town in Scotland was pulling your leg (or something else). It’s had better days, but there are better times ahead. Ferry hasn’t sailed from the town for many years, did you see a big boat in the harbour with Stena on the side ? Very poor video, if it was a newspaper article I’d say it was crap journalism !
