This was a large piece of Honey Locust that I felt would make a nice bowl.

Fantastic, thanks very much for posting. To me it's more meaningful when a bowl is turned from a log instead of a blank.

Oh wow Larry this is an awesome and stunningly beautiful bowl the wood grain is out of this world. Every time some one turns a bowl I am stunned to see the difference in the grain ftom tree to tree. God's creation is so awesome and stunningly beautiful.

That is such a gorgeous bowl...I love the coloring in the Honey Locust! I used my Beaver today on a bowl I made from a Maple burl cap.

Great, so you like it? If you noticed, I almost used nothing but a beaver to turn that bowl. Hard as that wood was, one would have had to sharpen a gouge about 10 or more times to get the same end product. Take care, Larry

What Poly do you use Larry? I'm not getting a good shine on my projects and I'd like to try adding some poly to the finish.

Varathane water-based Polyurathane. Make sure you get the high gloss. Two coats, steel wool 0000. Ack's paste and polish. That's the way I do it and you've seen my finishes. Take care, Larry

I have seen several videos of honey locust being turned (I think flat tractor tires!). Have you ever turned black locust (I think fence posts)?

@@TheWoodWhirler we use black locust for fence posts here. I hope to cut some for bowl blanks this winter when the sap is down. I tried already dead wood and it was really nice grain, but very difficult to turn.
