I like this guy. One of the most hard-working KZbin content creators that I know. He doesn't just review products, which I find a bit lazy of many creators. I might as well turn on the telly and watch QVC instead. No, this fella actually makes stuff !! He got me interested in aircrete and, now, he comes up with this. I hope to own one of them very soon. Thank you !

Darwin, remember I mentioned a product that can be sprayed on a surface called Cork Spray? You just invented a unit that would apply that with ease. The unit that is used for Cork Spray costs about $4000.00 and requires a big air compressor. I need to research this to see how it works. Awesome idea my friend.

Maybe try a plastic drywall texture gun, same principal, not very expensive. Already built, adjustable spray pattern, low cfm, lighter weight, bigger hopper, with bigger opening (if it starts getting too heavy, don't fill it all the way).

I flipped a bleach bottle over and installed my airsprayer nozzle and spray handle to it. Made another the same way and used an air chuck/sprayer. Scooped well and applied material like this. I'm all about helping others and not into charging anything for it. This is a pretty good idea. Only change I would make is to add a handle to the side of it for scooping material and holding it securely while using it. Not bad. The stucco sprayers are over priced. I got one for 150 and found that if I plugged 2 or 3 nozzle holes it works work well without a monster compressor. If you have a scaffold or something to hold your mix above you in a plastic drum (NOT DIRECTLY OVER YOU) you can install a flex hose to the bottom of the drum to the nozzle and cover a big area quick ! Swimming pools, roof tops, vaults walls. I used it for faux stone work. Sculpted Roof tops. Pool, waterfalls, etc. W

Here’s a thought, I’m not sure it would work. If you attached wire lathe to the outside of your shipping container and then sprayed on your aircrete, wouldn’t that provide some needed insulation for your shipping container. You could then use your trowel to smooth it out for a nice finish. Let me know if you think that would work. I’m thinking of building a container home, and using aircrete blocks for the open spans. Thanks.
@kazykamakaze131

@Honey Do I made mine a while before this video. Use a 90 degree connection rather and drill a hole on the outer bend towards the exit nozzle end for air connection. This allows for a far better flow rate and you can use smaller and smaller ends that allows for better pressure buildup and flow through and you can easily add the hopper to the other end of the 90 degree piece. This way is much cheaper and much faster and allows you to fit a longer pvc "nozzle" on the exit hole to be able to aim better. So instead of 8-10 pieces this allows for 4 pieces only and is more efficient and less waste.

I have thought of similar ideas with a feeder hose for the stucco. Either pressure or gravity fed. 5 gallon bucket on top of a tall ladder platform. Or a tripod lift, very moveable. A small verion of the cement buckets they use on high rise buildings with cranes. Might need a funnel cone on the bottom before the feeder hose. Pressue could happen from something like a cordless drill, allthread and a plywood plunger. Perhaps air or hydraulic driven also. Simplest would be gravity.

I'm using it to spray on a layer of light type white wash (silica sand, vermiculite heavily limed with 1% borax mortar) based coating onto the basement rafters and limestone rock walls in an old farm house , for mold and fire retardant.

Seems like a lot of the material ends up on the ground because its falling out of the outlet rather than getting caught in the air stream and shot onto the wall. I wonder if a second air nozzle under the spray outlet would shoot the stucco dropping out and get it on the wall rather than letting it fall to the ground?

The only think about this I would change is to get rid of that blowgun and use one I can mount near a sturdy handle with a flex line or a bent copper line or something. It just looks like the first thing to break is where the blowgun connects to the body of the hopper and a good sturdy and ergonomic handle would make it easier to hold longer. This is really cool tho man I don’t mean to knock it just my thoughts on improvements. Some kind of securable stand that the gun comes out of would be good for loading it by yourself also.

Brilliant! If one used white cement for the top coat, could you just leave the finish rough without trowelling, would you have the same surface strength?
@Sudo_Nimh
@Sudo_Nimh 3 жыл бұрын
You could do it as 2nd layer as a topcoat, but I wouldn't leave it as a single layer without floating/smoothing it. The reason is that aircrete takes on water like a sinking ship, and if you spray it you may be left with some spots in it that are thin enough for moisture to penetrate to the aircrete layer, which can tank moisture up and fail to dry leaving you with a nasty mold problem at the very least.
