I remember when it was the first day of 7th(?) grade for me and I started to bring bento for lunch. (Because the school lunches in the US, or at least where I'm from, are terrible.) When I opened my bento box and started eating rice or something of the sort, people just stared at me so strangely, eyeing down my bento... Yeah, people think I'm strange but, I'd rather eat bento than frozen grilled cheese sanwiches, brown apple slices, and frozen milk.

If you eat eggs you can make thin omelets with spinach rolled in, rice balls with rice seasoning, potato salad, and apple slices cut like rabbits. You can also bring a thermos with miso/veggie broth and put noodles and stuff in your bento, along with strawberry roses. I’d say to just try to look at bento recepies, and try to imagine a replacement for the meat

​@@butterscotchgirl4478 Hey ! I am a student and live alone since 15 so yeah at first it was mess (because i have a strict budget and my studies took a lot of my time). Basically what you can just ask your parents to buy frozen vegetables and meat or fish. So what i do now is basically i have a base like rice,pasta (or ramen in your case) and i just add vegetables and then i add protein that can be an egg, frozen fish... Stil not optimal but hope it help ;) Have a great day !

When I was in high school, I use to pack my own lunches in a cute hello kitty bento box, and sometimes I would take curry and rice for lunch. Because my school was in a small town and was not diverse, it was a big mistake because the other students would complain how it smelled. I was a senior in high school. A SENIOR. And the teenagers were so brutal, telling me how my food smelled like feet. It never happened in college, but I felt sad not being able to take my favorite native food from home because the other kids were so mean.

It amazes me that people are so quick to be rude to people for what they eat, but turn around and go to foreign restaurants that don’t even serve the food correctly or make it right. My school has a cafe ( for students that don’t want to eat normal school food ) and their booths are so diverse that there’s literally almost every meal from different cultures. So, no one at my school complains about different styles of food.
