Thanks for reviewing this car. I think it is more for US than our European market. Looks like an electric Lincoln Navigator type of car. Nice design and after fixing some bugs it would make impression on US market. No wonder why car manufacturers are afraid of Chinese EVs.

But its the same with Audi E-tron. Its even more expensive. Its smaller, little bit less quiet, little bit less confortable. It basically beats E-tron in almost every way and its less expensive. 2 problems are navigation (i just android auto) so personally i dont care. And auto drive is trash (i have a tesla my self and i never use it anyways) cuz i like to drive my self. It has some meh things but over all the car is crazy good IMO.

Maybe this drop in charging is about the new tarrifs on power top's we now have got in Norway. The power meter measures the hour consumption and you get an extra fee related to how high the top is ? Then you might start charing in the first 10-20 minutes past an hour and the charger is programmed to avoid the power top tax and slows down ? Also then if you came 10 minutes before next hour starts and when you start on a new hour after 10 minutes this might not happen, at least not before the car is trotteling anyway. And this might be different from one charging network to another. The nice Power-per-hour-per-hour tax ?

That's the issue with the Chinese market cars. They look great (considering most are just redesigns of NA and EU cars). But the software just isn't for any other markets but China. Spending 40K-50K USD on a car and a slight curve stumps the lane guidance and the software hasn't gone through a simple spell check is just unacceptable. Also a car that size should have better range than that. Look at what Chevy has done with the new Silverado EV, have the space load it with batteries. The Hongqi has relatively the same issue as the Fisker Ocean, great looking car but the software was just not consumer ready.

I think it can be too easy to say China just copy NA and EU cars... they've actually hired top EU design talent Giles Taylor oversaw this at Hongqi - ex Rolls Royce. Byd have Wolfgang Egger - ex Audi, Lambo etc... Zeekr have Stefan Sielaff - ex Audi, Mercedes I can really see a repeat of the Japanese car industry when they broke into global markets in the 70's.. all the same stuff used to be said about them

Actually this car is NOT a copy of anything. It was designed by THE former Rolls-Royce designer (Giles Taylor) who was hired by Hongqui back in 2018, so that's where you get that copy impression when it's just mr Taylors design language. I think the car looks stunning and offers a lot for the money, but its gonna be a hard sell here in Europe due to branding, also the pricing is not super aggressive.

Usually Chinese cars have different software for EU exports. That's the reason for unfinished software and typos. But they can fix it in next update. They produce 40M cars annually and their market need 25M. 15M is for export which is more than enough to saturate world market. They have ~250 different car manufacturers. EU import taxes will affect EU car manufacturers factories in China. They produce 6M cars annually and their already high prices will be increased. Chinese car manufacturers still can beat them with the price. After EU imposed texes, BYD stock market went to sky. A classic shoot in the foot.
