this is a Reflection of our Cities Very Poor Management...So Embarrassing!

Mahalo for speaking up. Heat exhaustion is no joke. How are the disabled don't use Handivan service and are dependent on The Bus supposed to be in federal compliance of ADA access? And the passing traffic (watch the bike rider 1:26)...is another liability all together.

Poor , poor planning !! WHY couldn't the City go after the driver who damage it ?? I put my money down ,,, a contractor could remove the debris , and place a concrete bench in one day ... now the City will say " Oh , we need to do a environmental study " or make excuses .

Thanks for covering this story. It’s been an eyesore for months, especially with graffiti. The response regarding how much longer it will take to make a new shelter is irrelevant. You can’t even remove and replace it with a used shelter from June to October. What a joke, you can’t even do baby steps. Just focus on that and stop making excuses.

They are more worried about the homeless using it, not the heat and kupuna... hence the neglect and 2-person seat.

I think one thing that gets overlooked is that almost every single department in the City & County as well as the state are severely understaffed and they can't find new workers. Thus, a backlog of work has piled up and continues to grow.

Yeah, I walk by that bus stop regularly and it looks like one of the temporary seats has also been banged up. It seems like a simple enough project, why use a contractor? Can't the work be done in house? It's not like we're trying to build a new TMC.

What's going on with Hawaii infastructure? Why does it take forever to get work done? A Lot of areas look like a third-world country. Which Hawaii Is not. So what is going on, and who is investigating this?
@supercussion65908 күн бұрын
Cause hawaii as a society has grown stupid, lazy, entitled, and expensive. Its de-evolution is making me just want to leave this overcrowded, desecrated place. I don’t want to, but this place feels like it’s going to implode.

Have the students at HCC build one.

Why would the students do that???

Any decent builder with tools and materials could have that built in less than a week and that’s just because of the concrete work.

Now they are trying to save money after putting billions into a 14 mile long rail that no one uses?

If someone crashed into this. Their car insurance would have paid out right away with their property damage coverage. Why is the state dragging their feet with this repair. What happened to the insurance money???

What a pitiful state of affairs. This is something that could simply be replaced in a weekend by a handyman after a visit to Homedepot. Leave it to a bureaucracy so large it can't get out of its own way.

I’m surprised nobody has stolen the bits that could be reused. Not only is there no shelter, but this broken shelter is blocking part of the sidewalk. This is not acceptable

Ask HCC’s carpentry Dept to design and build the bus shelter. It’s a perfect project for the carpentry students and the city would probably pay for cost of materials at the least. Win-win situation.
