'Real'' Akido .. and it works !! .. oh yeah .. it works ! .. of course, provided you are not fighting against a professional boxer or MMA fighter .. it's incredible how many people have learned Aikido in a 'formal' way (only like a dance) and suddenly discover that it won't work .. but not only Aikido works, in my opinion, practical Aikido it's very dangerous

I just found about you. Although I'm BJJ and Defence Lab (ex KFM) student, I absolutely love it, LOVE IT!!!! Finally someone who is willing to take Aikido to a whole new level and prove to MMA guys that aikido is still a viable and effective solution. I would LOVE to learn your ways, sadly here it isn't possible. Take Aikido back!!! SUBSCRIBED!!!

This was perfectly presented...really makes a difference. The camera person was masterful getting the viewer into the center of the lesson. The power of the art is brought out during contact combined with incredible timing displayed in clear and accurate framing in this video. At times during a sequence when the attacker was seperated from the floor ihe seemed to have defied gravity as if youmhad filled him wiith helium. All in all the skill, the training, and the integration of technique fascinated me as your movements appear seamlessly instinctual. Very fluid and natural looking. I am telling you this blew me away!

I have done Aikido for 3 years and i have GOT Orange belt so many years ago , but what i wished ti learn really Is Aikijitsu , now i am around 50 years old and i have done 1 year of Gracie Jiu Jitsu after i changed for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and i still di that today , but your special way of defense makes me wonder again , i think Is very good . It seems to me Is close to Kyusho Jutsu May be. Thank you very much for the fight experience you share . See you sirs

Hello, I just subscribed today, thanks for your objective videos about aikido. I like the elbow absorption, we practice it very often against side strikes too (yokomenuchi, punches, jo attacks ...). It's very effective, and very, very fast when well executed. Uke then finds a real void, keeping his momentum, so the following technique is very efficient. I learned "classic" aikido in the beginning, and I'm not complaining, I learned ukemi, disponibility,... but for several years now I'm in a dojo where we learn similar, more realistic techniques. It's great: the angles, speeds and positions are far more interesting, we train our cardio, our ma ai, our vigilance, and finally I think that the aikido philosophy is much more preserved practising like this. It's just a matter of honesty IMO.

First off, your techniques are awesome brother! I have a question about jamming the hook punch. How would you implement this with someone who throws a tight hook as opposed to the more wider haymaker? Would you need to step in closer or would another deflection be appropriate? Idk if you covered this already, just off the top of my head.
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS13
@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS13 5 жыл бұрын
Good question I would act based off of instinct. Whether I’d move in deeper of shift diagonally backwards to the outside of which hand was being thrown. Or if I was able to read it coming and react based off of timing I’d laterally move to the outside of which ever hand was being use and simultaneously duck while raising my arm which would be the same arm that was being thrown and hook the hook punch and apply an arm drag takedown followed up by an immediate knee to the side of the attackers head. I hope you can visualize what I described. I do believe I made a video of this over a month ago but it hasn’t been posted.

That moving in move and then a technique is going to be effective. Your partner was coming in fast and you realistically countered with the removal of the space between you and the follow up techniques. Anyone that thinks this will not work is smoking crack. Maybe not as planned perfectly but its going to work. Your damn fast for a stocky guy. As for the comments of hook vs overhand. Come on. In reality this is a street haymaker. Lets drop the semantics because this is what the average joe is going to throw in a bar. He is not going to throw a tight hook and if he does he is a boxer and then oh shit the fun begins.

@@SLYSCOMBATIVECONCEPTS13 Well don't call your video "defenses against a hook" if you're going to show defenses against an overhand. You call it an overhand right. In reality what people throw is a haymaker or wild hook. People do not have formal combat training in general, and even when they do it all goes out the window under the pressure of confrontation.

@@karim-yf9or maybe you actually meant 300 pounds? Even top WSM athletes these days 'only' weigh about 200kg; there is IMHO no way any real person can weigh 300kg and have a fit/muscular body; if you ever do face someone who looks muscular, fit, weighs 300kg and gets pissed off at you... run away from that silverback gorilla you just insulted. More realistically: if a much heavier/stronger attacker lunges at you, better use some time of tenkan or deflection rather than trying to muscle your way through any altercation; just my €0.02

Sorry but the chances of these techniques working in a real street fight is slim to none. Don't get me wrong these are Beautiful techniques but when someone swings in a real fight it isn't so telegraphed. I studied jeet kune do and hapkido for many years but times have changed... MMA is the way to go with Brazilian Jiu-jitsu being the main focus but that's my opinion

Well I've used the hand deflections in a bar almost exactly as Lenny explained in his videos. I practiced it a few times in traditional class and outside of that and yeah it worked so after that I don't really care what you think. The fact is that a lot of what lenny shows is in traditional Aikido classes but it's incredibly rare. Also Hapkido is like Aikido but I've never seen anyone very good at it even at 5th dan level
@lancejackson9108
@lancejackson9108 5 жыл бұрын
These are 'concepts', not techniques, that Lenny is sharing. What we see here is happening for training and teaching purposes. The movements are slowed down, done in an exaggerated, 'performance mode' for an audience to watch, analyse and comprehend. Unless you're a professional fighter you have no real basis to evaluate/judge. If there was no camera here, and you really came in to hook punch Lenny or one of his guys training like this, I wouldn't be betting on your chances. Furthermore, I don't think Lenny intends this to be considered as training techniques for professional fighters. This level of training and demonstration appears more aimed for application in a bar fight against drunk guys who are telegraphing their big shots. Or in a domestic violence situation where the victim (usually the woman) is being slapped by an asshole who thinks she can't counter. Lenny, sir, have you done any videos for women self defence in that sort of situation?
