Sadly the original Bridgeport location closed awhile back. My father was high school pals with Fred. The original locations were so much tastier than todays Subway they all had that iconic wall paper of a map of the nyc subway tunnels. The bread tasted so much better back in the day before it was a huge franchise. I worked as an art director for the Milford CT corporate world headquarters. It’s crazy how far Fred took the brand. RIP Fred. Great video. 👍

FunFact - Before 1947, there were 1000's of Subway type cafes and restaurants but they were just running as a family business and stayed without expanding. Subway used to cut out a V shape form the top of the bread. They would add all the fixing and then top it with the V cut they had removed. If you watch the Happy Gilmore movie Happy does a commercial where he hold the old style V cut sandwich.
